S5TII 206rwhp on a DD

http://s9.photobucket.com/albums/a72...t=PICT0018.flv
Video

The tuner told me if I richened it out a bit and leaned out the beginning I should see an increase in power. This is pretty good considering it was on a Dyno Dynamics Dyno. A resource of mine told me 206 rwhp on a DD is about 242 on a Dynojet.

Discuss!

Edit: Completely forgot the mods!
AEM Tru Boost set to 13 psi in fourth gear
Stock size wastegate
4x750ccs
Rp fcd
apexi safc tuned by me
rb 2.5 turboback, presilence
apexi intake

that should be it for power.

Damn, you didn't get any boost creep with the stock wastegate?

No I get tons lol. I only get about 8 psi in first gear, 17 in 5th! I don't boost in 5th needles to say.

Take the turbo off and port the wastegate. Don't need to worry about that boost creep every again.

^^^Yeah, now worry about keeping boost up. My boost used to go up 15 + psi. Now after I ported my gate, boost goes down to 7 psi after 6k rpms. I like it though. The stock turbo isnt making any more power after 12-13 psi. I made the same as he did. With a bag on my Top mount intercooler I went up to 221hp. But after heat soak, its the same. 206.

I'm going BNR turbo over the winter. The wastegate is already ported in those. No need.

Anybody have anything to say about my actual dyno run?

By the way I forgot this car has a front mount intercooler, 2.5" piping.

You made almost as much torque as hp, which is rare. Most of the graphs I've seen from cars w/ similar setups on dynojets produce about 200-210 rwtq and 240-250 rwhp. So you're looking at about 235 rwtq if you figure a 15% lower reading from the DD. That's great out of a stock turbo!

it's not that rare, the stock compressor is inefficient at higher than stock levels. it is not unusual to see torque numbers get close to hp. i dyno'd the stock turbo at 224 hp and 214 tq on 9-10 psi. i compared our dyno plots and FRFC3S has more torque than i did, and earlier too. but his boost came in earlier than mine.

Yeah, boost will drop to around 6-7 PSI at redline, which decreases peak hp. Still, the stock compressor turns into a hair dryer above 12psi, so getting ~235 tq out of it is still great.

The reason he hit full boost earlier is probably just due to his boost controller. I hit full boost at about the same rpm, and I'm just using a ball-and-spring MBC that I built.

What kind of dyno was that on?

hi mate,
i just had my s5 rx7 tuned here in australia as it was pinging its head off whenever it hit positive vacuum (boost). this is how i bought the car.
Anyway worked out the coils had been wired differently to suit the Autronic but hadn't been setup correctly in the Autronic tuning program. Tuner also took a **** load of fuel out of the map as it was tuned rich as **** and wasnt anywhere near stoichiometric at idle
Car runs sweet as now, made 154kw (about 200hp) @ the wheels on 7psi. Condition of the motor is unknown, only known mods are cat back exhaust, pod filter, autronic sm2 and walbro fuel pump. dyno sheet below

Goodluck with yours mate, car looks nice

Andrew

I made ~ 230 and 210ft lbs on a Dynojet with my J-spec install, so your numbers are quite good. This was at 10psi. I've been running it at 12psi, but that's the maximum allowable limit my factory 550cc's can handle.

382hp, 328ft/lbs here. Good margins...

Nice tune on the stock turbo, you're making nearly the same power as my GT3574 car at 3500rpm, but I'm also havign numerous issues.

TQ curve looks like its a fun little ripper!!!!

Wow thanks a lot guys. I was expecting for everybody to be confused as to why I dynod so low. Is it really just the fact that it was on a Dyno Dynamics? I'm new to dyno terminology etc.

Yeah she's really fun down low but it starts to drop off big 6k+. It's really fun at that 3500-5500 stage. Loooove it.

Edit:

By the way this is a 162,000 original mile motor with a blown coolant seal.
