1990 NA on Mustang Dyno with 200k km motor.
Hi guys,
I finally dyno'ed my car after a few mods.
Last year, I dynoed 142rwhp on a dynojet.
Mods were:
Cone intake
stock exhaust
Crane CDI ignition
SR motorsport lighten flywheel
SAFC tuning
Pinapple racing sleeves.
This year, I dyno'ed 151 rwhp on a mustang dyno. ( I think the correlation on dyno jet vs mustang dyno is around 10% lower on the mustang)
Mods were:
Same as above, but with
SDJ header
Borla XR-1 midpipe
2.5 inch exhaust
SAFC re-tuned.
A/F was at around 13. I think if I leaned out more to 13.5 ish, I'll pick up another 2 -3 hp or so. What do you guys think?
Before the dyno, I also compression tested my engine
Front : 9.3 / 9.3 / 9.3
Rear: 8.7 / 8.9 / 8.7
Not too shabby for 200k km (125k miles) on the motor.

With the Solo1 correction factor of 0.830 on Mustang dyno, that works out to around 187hp at the crank ...
That's 27 hp over stock with just intake, exhaust and tuning .... pretty good in my books.
I would be interested to see how the graph of a car with RB header would look like comparing to one with my SDJ.
BTW, of the few cars I compared with that had the RB header on, I would pull on them at high end all the time.

That's alright, I think the advantage lies in the wieght of the header.
SDJ is stainless steel while RB is mid steel, you are saving 10lbs of so already.
Also, I had the RB header before, comparing the 2, I feel I have more tq thru out the powerband and slightly more power up top with the SDJ.
Anyhoo, it's a little engine sucking in 1.3L of air ...... if there is a few hp difference between 2 setups, it's pretty huge already ... =0
