A high quality sportscar like the rx7 doesn't deserve shitty, heavy, cast, chinese made junk wheels.

Save a little more and get a set of Enkei RPF1s or RP03s instead. They aren't that much more money than the XXR/Failmax wheels.

Not everyone needs uber race rims. While I agree there are better rims around, I'm in no position to judge others' decisions.

Im not exactly saying every fd needs forged monblock wheels, or am I trying to judge others decisions. Its pretty well known that sportmax is crap.

Those don't *look* horrible. I wonder how well made they are?

I've met moejoe at DGRR, very nice guy. Now I am sad panda

We are not talking about "Race" wheels. We are talking about spending a few extra bucks and buying a better quality cast wheel , or some used wheels in the budget (like an enkei or the sort) that actually serves a wheel's purpose (and has engineering behind it).

These wheels are better off as paperweights.

And, what was funny, was when I worked at SSR, the president of Sportmax/XXR e-mailed us asking to sell OUR Wheels on the "side" for his "side business". Let's just say, we didn't approve.

One man's junk is another man's gold. There are products for everyone. Once again, not everyone needs to spend $2-3k on a set of wheels for a car. Since 90% of the people just fart around on public streets, they'll never realize the difference between a quality cast wheel and something "cheap". On the plus side, if they bend or damage a cheap wheel, they can just purchase another "cheap wheel" and be done with it. Get off the elitist horse. If someone wants to buy cheap rims, why should you care?

Crap for what? Putting around on the streets? You don't need 12lb forged rims for going to Best Buy and back. If someone is competing in Solo I or time trials, I would suggest something else. However, the OP is not so who cares what he wants to use.

^^^ Id also like to hear the stories behind sportmax rims and what their weak points are.
Id agree that you dont need strong rims if your daily driving a car with lower hp/tq ratings. But if they are so poorly made that anything could go wrong on a stock car, id skip them.

I don't care. What I don't like is people attacking others for using/asking about them. The OP didn't ask what the best wheels were to buy; the OP asked for fitment information and feedback from those running them. I didn't see anyone either helping with fitment or offering first hand information about using them.

Back on topic, 93RedDragonFD it looks like they only come in one offset for the 18x8.5 & 18x9.5 which is +35. As long as your roll the fenders, they will fit.

hey sorry i just posted about a similar wheel and fitment ?. hey mahjik is +35-+40 really that much of a difference? i actually agree with red dragon, i think these wheels look pretty good and don't understand why they wouldn't be fine for normal daily driving use. the wheels i am looking at are raze???? never heard of the brand before but they are cheap. i already have a set of bbs lm1's and am looking to purchase two other sets of wheels. i don't think there is anything wrong with slappin on another set of cheap wheels just to change the look of the car every once and a while. i have a polished set, so now i want a gold and black set. i know i'm probably stepping on some toes with you track gods and perfectionists, but thats just my 2 cents.

5mm can make a difference. In this case, I don't think there will be much difference fitting a +40 wheel verses a +35. Both will require fender rolling. However, as you get a little more aggressive with wheel fitments, the offset differences can be the difference of a standard fender roll verses hammering the fenders flat, a fender pull, needing more extreme camber, etc...

There are a lot of factors when it comes to wheel "fitment", and everyone has their own ideas about what is decent "fitment" and what isn't.

Well damn, i thought the 006's looked like some nice rims to put on a DD RX-7 but i guess they are complete junk as far as rims go. My friend runs them on his 440whp FD and I "thought" they were nice. I'm not trying to spend 2-3k on rims but i mean the Volk GTU's have always been what i "want" but not what i can "afford" Guess i'll just have to save up some more and keep looking.

Thanks for all the help Mahjik!

If a set of gtu's is what you really want, you might like work vs-xx, they look pretty similar. You can find great deals on used vs-xx all the time.

I went with Volk RE30. I have 17s.

Not on the car yet.

Went with these as at the time the size was about a pound heavier than the stock wheels.
