Will Broken Bushings cause any damage?

I currently hear a "knocking" noise comming from my rear end.

I have come to the conclusion that the bushings on both sides are damaged.

Will driving the car around damage any party of the suspension or any other parts?

I am going to be getting them replaced along with whatever else may be causign the "knocking" noise.

Any help will be much appreciated

What car? What bushings? If you don't know which ones are bad, no one can tell you if other damage will occur.

Im not sure what bushings are bad. I was told that the knocking noise that I am hearing is probobly caused by damaged bushings. Obviously I will not be able to tell what the real problem is until I put the car up and take a closer look to it.

My question was basically, if the bushings are damaged will driving around the car hurt the suspension or have any affect on the car.

If they were REALLY bad then yes you could chew up the interior of the pieces.

However, if they were that bad, clunking would not exactly be the sound you'd here, most like the world coming to an end under your car.

Bushing noise can be caused by as little as 2-3 mm of erosion anywhere in the bushing, if you can move something just a bit and here a slight 'tick' noise, amplify that times 50 and thats what you'd normally hear in the car.

Your putting 20-30ft lb of force onto the part, the car is putting several thousands and in some cases tens of thousands.
