Widest tires?

Guys Im just curious as too what are the widest tires I can fit on a 18 x 9.5 rim. Im not too sure if Im gonna get the 18's but thats the only size they come in and I have never seen these wheels on an fd before. So if you could let me know that would be awesome and also if you all could advise me on what types of tires I should get for these wheels that would be awesome. Thanks again.

Re: Widest tires?

I just ordered a 275/35 for a wheel like this. I mounted a 295/30 that a friend had laying around just to test fit. These were Pirelli Asymetricals and they bulge a little but don't look too bad. I decided to go smaller because the suggested width per manufacture was more than the 9.5". Most of the 275s stated 9.5" as best and 285s were at the 10" width.

I understand some peoples obsession with others using the search function on the forum but do you realize how many threads that you might have to go through to find the exact information you are looking for. Like you said it might be in the ten thousands so you might not find it until thread five thousand. So it might be a waste of time but you might also be helping someone else not have a headache by searching and searching and searching. Its not that hard to give out the information if you have it.

It makes it hard for someone new to feel wanted when everyone who has been here for several years keeps telling them to do a search. I never have understood why it is so hard if people have the information just to share it one more time. Its not going to kill anyone. Just my .02 though and nothing personal.

The only reason there are so many threads is because people don't use the search function...

Besides, ALL of the major tire manufacturers, as well as sites like the Tire Rack, list specs on their websites. All you have to do is look it up.

275/35 is the widest you should go. 265/35 is ideal for that rim width.

I understand that and I totally agree and I did go to tirerack but when I put in my tire size it came back with no options for those sizes for me so thats why I was curious. I just needed a little info and felt it was a little easier asking than searching through ten thousand previous posts.

go to tirerack and check out wheels. Some of them will have the same size you are looking at 8.5 / 9.5 and on the left it will tell you the suggested size.

As for the search thing, simply put you're lazy. Sorry if that sounds mean, but it is true. Take an extra 5-10 minutes and do some scanning, or refine your search. Regardless, it IS that simple.

To the vets here, sorry, I am starting to cozy up to the forum since I have now been here/had my FD for a year. These continuous reposts of a simple topic get to me. How come these are just not deleted, because I am sure this plethera of multiple threads on 1 topic eats away at the bandwidth (?).

I'm not flaming you for posting this thread, but do keep in mind the economies of searching versus posting:

1 person x 10 minute search < 70 people x 30 second read

Max I totally understand and I hope everyone understands my point of sometime you may not realize it but your words of use the search function come out a little harsher than people would like and it just makes some people not feel wanted. Im not saying I feel that way but sometimes when I read post it sucks for the new people. Yes the same questions over and over are annoying. Just trying to give perspective thats all.

Searches are good way for newbies to learn. For newbies, sometimes lurking and reading alot before you actually post is a good thing!

Although you and I have butted heads a couple times, I defintely agree with you!

That is how I learned a lot about my other car and the RX7. I visited the forum, signed up, and just hid in the shadows reading for almost a month. Gradually I chimed in as I felt more comfortable with the surroundings and information. Not only do I think this is a good idea here, but it isn't that bad of advice for life in general.
