wheel spacers
ok here is the dilemma. i dont have the money to change my wheels so im gonna paint my stock rims in a nice understated gunmetal grey, problem is i like a wide looking car, i think the stock wheels look a little tucked under the car so is there any reason i shouldnt get wheel spacers ? and if there is no reason not to, what is the max i should go ?
any help would be nice.
i have searched this subject and nothing.

Well-made wheel spacers shouldn't be a problem. I would not run more than a 12mm spacer, 10mm max if your car is below stock ride height.
Running a lower offset will have negative effects on suspension geometry and wheel bearing life, so no, it's not really a good idea. You may also need to run longer hub bolts.

Spacers give the car a better look, thats about all i can say for them. It puts stress on spindls and lugs and should not be used in a race fastion. I do have a set of spacers for a RX7 now that i've said that LOL. They where given to me, along with my car and a box of other stuff.

Are those hub-centric? I know on most cars, if the wheels are not hub-centric, it will manifest itself as a vibration during certain speeds, almost like your wheel and tires are out of balance. Since you will be getting spacers, you better make sure that it mates to the hub perfectly, and also provides a surface to mate to your stock wheels perfectly too. If not, it MAY cause some vibrating issues.
Other than that, yes, if you push out too far, that is, if the spacer is too thick, then it certainly will change the suspension geometry significantly, and that may lead to premature wheel bearing failure like rynberg said.

think i may make sure they are Hub-Centric? like u say then get max 10mm like rynberg sugests, think it makes the car look a little nicer. as for berings i dont mind they dont cost much and can get them installed free by my machanics and as for effecting the handling i dont get close to the max handling of the car so loosing a little wont efect me haha

It can affect even the normal driving feel if you go to far in the front because of scrub radius changes. Turn the steering wheel full lock to lock and then move the car back a foot a look at the cool scraping design that shows up on the tires. Move the center of that scrape in or out to far and the car will feel funny steering.
Also get 1/2" studs from ARP if you go with spacers.
