What are the stiffest springs for the FD??

Well, Not sure I want the stiffest but something to help with my rubbing issues. The Eibach pros are not getting the job done. Anything stiffer with the same ride height? Man, maybe I should just buy the M2 conversion set..

You shouldn't rub with Eibachs. What size wheels and tires are you running?

The stiffest stock-style springs are probably the M2 550/450 set. But I haven't heard of anyone trying them (no reports of availability, ride height, etc.).

M2 has discontinued the stock-style 550/450 springs.

I had the eibachs and after I got my 18" wheels, my tires started to rub against the wheel liner. I then switched to the M2 coilovers-->no more rubbing & a lower ride height(adj).

Note: They are very stiff! I miss my eibach's.

how stiff?

How stiff is "STIFF"? I Do not mind a hard ride but I do not want my glass to break out the window!!! If I go with the GC or M2 what spring rates should I get? Will my springs come out when I jack the car up?

Yes, the springs will come out with the Ground Control kit.....

The base rate for the M2/GC kit is 550/450 lb springs. Shock valving also has a very large effect on ride quality. For example, the JIC coil-overs have 670/500 lb springs and have been reported to ride better than softer setups.

IMO, most of the aftermarket coil-overs available use springs that are way too stiff for street driving. I'm still skeptical of how the JIC coil-overs drive, as I don't have personal experience with them.

I had the RB springs on my car and switched to the H&R sport springs. They are stiffer. Don't know how much, but the car no longer rubs the inner fender liners (front) on hard cornering. The ride feels "better", though no more or less hard. It's not harsh (as far as an RX-7 is concerned) but feels more controlled. The RB springs are supposed to be 7% stiffer than stock, as I recall.
Neither spring will "fall out" when the car is jacked up. The RB springs had more "extra length" than the H&R (had to use a spring compressor to get the RB springs out but I could compress the H&R by hand enough to get the nuts started when I put them on - though it was hard work pushing them down and starting the nut).

david are you saying that your H&R's are stiffer than the Racingbeats? Becuase the Rb is supposed to be a linear spring which should be alot stiffer than the H&R(progressive), which you should have had a less chance rubbing with the RB since it was stiffer.

The H&R springs I got are linear, as were the RBs (as you stated). I -assume- the H&Rs are stiffer, because the ride height is the same, but the springs were shorter uncompressed (before mounting). The wheel also no longer contacts the fender liner on hard cornering when you hit a pavement bump (same road, same general speed - kind of hard to be accurate though in replicating this). Got them from Jason a few years ago - H&R P/N 52615. Put them on last year, as I recall.

I had the pettit springs with the Tokiko 5-way shocks and with the setting on 3, it was a sweet ride. Most passengers agreed. I switched to KHS 30-way adjustable coilovers with 450/450 and even with the setting on 5, lane markers make the CD skip. If I could do it over, I would have kept the Pettits or gone with 280/280. Try the RSR race springs. The rates are 447 391.

why do you think springs are the issue? what size tires and rims are you running and what are the offsets? there could be a fitment issue with the rims/tires.
