IL What are the most reliable Lug Nuts?

I just bought a set of 2.5" ARP wheel studs and I'm looking for a set of strong and reliable open ended lug nuts. I'm not worried about what they look like but more concerned that they will function properly. I've seen the aluminum as well as steel lug nuts but not sure which is the better buy. Also, what brands do you guys recommend?

Thanks in advance.
Raz.

Just about any brand will do that you don't get from AutoZone. I've been using Muteki without any issues:

doesn't really matter that much

I'm running gorilla open ended lug nuts on my FC without any issue... They're steel.

I've used aluminum ones too. they're a lot more expensive and probably not as durable, but may age better...

pack of 4 for $6....

another thing to consider is a lot of aftermarket "tuner" aluminum ones have some sort of wheel lock build into them which may be useful depending on where you live...

Use antisieze and you shouldn't have issues. That being said, my Muteki's have been through countless wheel changes and still feel new.

There are just so damn many to choose from but I ended up buying the Muteki open ended in "bling bling blue"

I was considering the Gorilla lugs because of price but bought the Muteki set that also comes in steel. I just wasn't sure if the aluminum would hold the load on heavy turning so I didn't go that route. Plus, I couldn't justify spending $200 plus on fancy aluminum lugs because at that price... the lugs might get stolen before my stock wheels

Sweet! That's good to know that Muteki lugs holds up so I'm not to worried about the purchase I made

I've never heard of a lug nut failing. Anyone?

I've never heard of a lug nut failing either but then again I've only ever used steel lug nuts. So with aluminum being a softer metal, I was a little skeptical to get them.

ive had a lug nut fail.

i have to use the tuner lug nuts like these because the holes on my wheels are very small and cant get anything around the lug nut.

after a while one of the lug nuts split. i could not get the lug nut off. the key that goes in the middle just expanded the lug nut since it split and wouldnt turn it. i had to weld a bolt to the lug nut to take it off and messed up my wheel at the same time.

granted it didnt fail to where my wheels fell off. but it failed to where i couldnt get them off. good thing i didnt have a flat and that happened.

Because of my rims I also have to use a small diameter "tuner" type lug nuts with external splines. They even have them with shanks to help locate/center the wheel on the stud.
