Yea...I was struggling really hard to pick some wheels in a pattern that I thought would work. I have a hard time seeing pictures of rims and imagining them on the FD. I hope after everything gets put back on that it will look decent
Anyways, I finally got the front 99 spec brakes and 99 spec dust shields on and as you can see there is PLENTY of clearance for the brakes with the Volk offset DISK B!
This is just to help people in seeing what the pad height clearance is like when you order the DISK B for big brake kits as suggested on Rays website.

And FINALLY here are some pictures of the car on the ground with the coilovers lowered back to the ride height I like.
I measured from the ground to the top of the arch and on the drivers side it measures 24.5" front 25" rear. I should have measured the passenger side but totally forgot!
I still think I will clear the fenders, but am still a little concerned as I haven't had an alignment yet and since lowering, both the fronts and rear look to have some negative camber. Hopefully it will still all clear after an alignment.

Alittle...re-powdercoated R1 strut tower bar, Carbonfiber airbox (will be selling my RX7fashion one soon), and Feed sideskirts (won't put on until after the repaint).
Got the water injection installed...just waiting on the custom tank.
Umm, also the custom remote boost switch for the Profec B.
https://www.rx7club.com/forum/showth...=profec+remote
umm, added resistor to knock down the light on the RX-8 shift ****
https://www.rx7club.com/forum/showth...=resistor+****
Got Huper Optik ceramic window tint 30%
Also had the car aligned and corner balanced.
I plan to get the airbox in then get it dyno tuned then repainted after which I will put everything back in....
I think that's it?!?!?!
Thanks for asking

I do like them I just wish they weighed less. I wish I could have the weight of the CCW one piece rims that just came out.
Regardless, when I swing by the shop and see them sitting on the car and the sunlight hitting them....they do look kinda cool

i like the rims.. ALOT!.. I have 19 inch C2's on mine.. and at times wish they were 18's... but I def have the pimp factor down with the big shoes..
anyways.. only thing i would personally change.. is raise the car.. 1/4-1/2 an inch.. make the wheel well more evenly spaced..

I have them remember? I have the CF 99 spec lip and 99 spec undertray. It's just going back for one more paint before I put it on.
its a LONG term project!

the car is already set at the 25 inch ride height according to what Howard Coleman recommends...
so its more for tracking less for looks. What looks off to you?

I got the CF lip done by Mark Koch before he stopped doing the CF overlays....
www.carbonfiberparts.net I think he still has his prices posted in "past projects".
However, herblenny is trying to get a GB on some lips here:

If you look at fitment for a +38 in a 9" rim up front;
Maximum front spacing, front wheel - 3.5"
Maximum back spacing, front wheel - 7.5"
So for a 9 inch wheel;
10" (wheel width + 1") / 2 = 5"
38mm = 1.5"
Back spacing = 5" + 1.5" = 6.5"
Front spacing = 10" - 6.5" = 3.5" = pretty damn close
if you calculate it out the rears for a 10" wheel and +38;
Maximum front spacing, rear wheel - 4.0"
Maximum back spacing, rear wheel - 7.5"
11" (wheel width + 1") / 2 = 5.5"
38mm = 1.5"
Back spacing = 5.5" + 1.5" = 7.0"
Front spacing = 11" - 7" = 4.0" so its pretty damn close here with 10" and +38!
if you calculated +42
10" (wheel width + 1") / 2 = 5.5"
42mm = 1.7"
Back spacing = 5.5" + 1.7" = 7.2"
Front spacing = 11" - 7.2" = 3.8" so it gives me a little breathing room.
The rolling of the fenders is extra insurance. Plus with the IBM paint job the last thing I wanted was to FUBAR the new paint....to me the amount of lippage is fine.

where did you get these figures? I only ask because they will be very useful in a current project of mine but I'd like to know how you got the info before I consider it gospel.
The wheels look great by the way.

Rob,
they are on scuderia's site and jimlab posted them awhile back. You can search and find out. If you want you can even measure them. I do not know if they are "gospel" but they are pretty damn close if you are getting custom offsets.
The other alternative is to do the worksheet like what is found on the Fikse website which should give you close to the same numbers.

I saw Jim's post but I don't have Excel. Checked Scuderia's site, his numbers are based on stock springs which are about 5" in diameter (127mm) measuring with a wooden ruler. Aftermarket coilovers are 60mm-65mm (2.36"-2.56") will increase backspacing capacity by 1.22" and 1.32" respectively.
also 1" is a very round fudge factor for the bead width. I guess it's close enough when all is said and done but I know that my 8inch rim was actually 8 7/8 rather than 9" as the calculation suggests.
using that info with 65mm coilovers you should be able to fit an 11 inch wheel (actually around 12" wide) using a 54.7mm offset which maintains your front spacing recommendation and allows .8" of space between the coilover and wheel. This will undoubtedly require shims. Or I'm wondering if it may be necessary to tighten up the front gap a little to the 38 offset frontspacing equivalent which is 50.7mm offset on a 12" total wheel. This is all assuming an unlimited selection of offsets are available which in my particular situation is the case.
Would anyone happen to have a link to pictures of Kevin T Wyums wheel setup and/or the wheel offset information for his car? The search function didn't quite get me what I was looking for. I apologize for diverting your thread temporarily, any other questions will be posted in a separate thread. I like what you have done with your car. Keep up the good work.
