Turbo Porsche Cayenne Brakes On A Fd?
#26
sORRY I DO NOT KNOW THE YEAR AND THE MODEL OF THE ROTOR AS I BOUGHT IT AS A SET FROM A BRAKE SHOP(USED). aS FOR THE HAT I DID NOT FABRICATE ANYTHING ELSE EXCEPT BRACKET.mY MECHANICAL FIXED THIS MATTER JUST WITH A SIMPLY BUT DURABLE BRACKET. iT IS VERY EASY IF YOU HAVE THE RIGHT WHEEL TO FIT THEM.THE FRONT CONVERSION SEEMS TO BE VERY EASY BUT THE REAR IS A PAIN IN THE ***. i HAVEN'T DONE IT YET AS I HAVE TO FABRICATE A BRACKET THAT CAN SUPPORT THE DB9 CALIPER AND THE SEPARATE HANDBRAKE CALIPER.pROBABLY I HAVE TO FABRICATE A NEW HAT FOR THE REAR ROTORS TOO

THANKS FOR THE PHOTOS JEROME.THE EASIEST WAY FOR THE HANDBRAKE IS FOR SURE THE BREMBO CALIPER BUT IS FOR FAR THE MOST EXPENSIVE OF ALL OTHER.WE ARE TALKING ABOUT 800-950 GBP JUST FOR CALIPERS. i WILL GO FOR HI-SPEC CALIPERS WITH 345 REAR DISKS FROM A BENTLEY.AS FOR REAR CALIPERS I HAVE A 4POT FROM DB9. I HAVEN'T DONE MY CALCULATION FOR THE TOTAL COST BUT I AM EXPECTING 1700-2000 GBP. NOT CHEAP AT ALL.

badass
thats sweet. once youre done could you post any mods that were needed. also what you think of them. also is there any way ur mechanic can fab some extra brackets for me, and the cost associated. im interested and will check out some local salvage yards for parts.

Are u interested for front bracket only?I will tell him to give me a good price for you.It is going to be long although cause he is very busy.He is actually the best mechanic in Greece with most of parts exported to many countries,US included. He manufacture some specific parts and products for some known brands.I will let u know

Each caliper and car have different mounting brackets ..just bare that in mind

and thats cool if hes busy im not ready just yet, i was just curious if i could get them and how much it will run me. that is something i could see doing in the near future. but i want to see urs b4 i do anything. also whats the purpose for the separate parking brake?

Yup,
StopTech's ST40 caliper uses a Porsche pad shape from some 911 and 968 models. I don't think it would be the same as the Cayenne shape (maybe at the rear), but maybe ST's 6-piston caliper does.
I've been getting cheaper PFC pads for my ST's by buying them from a local retailer that supplies the regional 944 spec series. I do have to nip a little bit of the backing plate off though, for the ST bridge to fit on.

yes Cayenne uses brembo calipers are around.VW Touareg has EXACTLY the same calipers as Porcshe. If u are going to change the rear calipers you'will have to use different parking calipers as Fer.Moddena,A.Martins,Lambor. etc. The FD3S uses mechanical handbrake together as rear caliper. So u cannot plug the handbrake cable to any other known calipers for handbrake. Some Brands like Hi-spec in UK have calipers that have both fluid line and can support wire for the handbrake but believe me it is no good.It is one way traffic sorry

No mate.the stosk calipers are first very heavy and big so it is very difficult to just change them place and second u cannot use them as a handcalipers only. There is cheaper solutions than brembo ones.u can go with Hi-spec or Wilwood, not so good.If you find also some rear handbrahe ca/rs from A-Martins or some Jaguar moders also.

Milosi cannot send you pictures of the bracket yet..if you could wait about two weeks as i am going to paint the calipers.I can send you a photo then. As i can remember the price for the bracket was about 250-300 euros. I am thinking of sell the calipers althought cause i am thinking to install a pair of 6pot ceramic that i have or for a pair of 8 pot brembo aou of an Audi RS6. think about it. i would sell the calipers for about 1200 euros.Thinking about 1400 for the calipers anf bracket together. The pads have about 90% of staff on each corner. of course i am going to paint the calipers to be as new. think about it

4 to 5 mm is crazy. I run a little over 1 mm clearance between '99 JDM front caliper and a set of RPFI's track wheels .. deflections of the wheel for which i am sure is plenty does not hit the caliper. Got to figure bottom of wheel defects inward under heaviest loading but clearance issue is in horizontal line from hub. Additionally all hub strcut defections are equally deflecting brake mounts.

My calipers touch. I actually had to grind away at the caliper for it to spin freely but I'm sure they touch under load. About 1mm clearance, seems to be working fine.
