Tires for 16x8.5 and 16x9.5 wheels (FD)

What tires for these wheels? 16x8.5(front) and 16x9.5(rear) wheels.

I am thinking of

front 16x8.5 - 225/50/16
rear 16x9.5 - 245/45/16

Should fit unless you have some screwy offsets. How come you didn't make the autocross Sunday?

I am sick and tired of autocross. :P

Heh..not really, I was on vacation with family.

The offset is pretty low, front is ok, but back is pretty much lined up with fender well lip.

geez, for those widht wheels I'd run a 245 up front and a 265 out back.

where did you find a 16x9.5 wheel?
I would love 4 of those for autox... 275's all around would be wicked.

The information i have shows the maximum "safe" mounting rim width for a 205/50/16 is 8.0" and a 245/45/16 would be 9". If you mount them on rims that are a .5" wider you could blow the bead the first time you hit a hard bump. The 225/50/16 and 245/45/16 are correct for the car just not the rims you are trying to use. regrettably due to the usuall liability issues these are the only sizes i can recommend for your FD.

Please show what 16-inch tires are available in 265 or 275 width that would properly fit....I'll give you a hint before you look, there aren't any.

I take that back, I know one company makes a 265/45 16 racing tire, I think it's Kumho. In any case, I'm not sure they would clear the trailing arms in the rear, being only 16s.

These are CCWs.
The wheel clears the stock Trailing Arm, but running Hoosier/Kumho Racing Tire might not.

I am having hard time looking for 255/45/16 which should be the correct Overall Diameter and Width for 9.5" wheel.

Anyone have ideas? I want to have street tires on them to be wasted at drift events.

Alright,

Finallly bought Kumho Ecsta 712.
225/50/16 front on CCW 16x8.5
245/45/16 rear on CCW 16x9.5

All fit fine with the following:
- JIC Coilover
- Stock trailing arm

beautiful, I didnt know CCW made anything in 16''.
any chance you weighed the bare wheels on a nice scale?
I will have to consider them for my autox sertup next year, looking to run 16x10 or 16x9.5 all around with kumho in a 275 wide.

he didnt specify any offsets so I dont know why you guys think a 265 or 275 wouldnt clear... dont get upset with me.

ughhh, Ecsta 712's? glad to see you bought them to destroy them at drift events, since they suck for grip. have fun smokin 'em!

The stack:
Kumho MX on top and bottom, they shred and separate even before used all the way to bottom.
two middle is Fuzion Zri, they stay together until the thread are gone, at which they won't grip anymore.

I guessing the wheel weight less than 20 pounds, I never weight them on scale. They are slightly heavier than stock. The 712 weight a lot though.

Offsets
16x8.5 +40 offset (front)
16x9.5 +38 offset (rear)
