Very interesting. I'm very surprised that the Toyos tested so mediocre...(even though the differences between tires is pretty small). Then again, they do cost significantly less than the "top" tires in the comparo...

It's nice to see a good test like this one. I would have like to see a noise test included, as that is an important factor for me. Noisy tires suck

Most of what matters in 99.99% of driving is the FEEL of the tires, and the Toyos are very good here. And yes, they are a very old design, and have been replaced by the T1-R that is just coming to the states.
My comment on the mediocrity was more aimed towards the WET performance than the dry...my T1-S are the best tires in the rain I've ever had on any car. Can't wait until the T1-R does it's full rollout with the sizes I need.

As an amatuer the difference of a lesser tire is multiplied exponentially. so if the difference in tire is small between Pros an amatuer may show a bigger gap. Being that a pro is more likely to adjust for a tires weakness better than I.

Hee hee hee...I'm awaiting for T1-S to go out...and have a closed out deal on them. These are the true street tires. Softer side wall and very good in rain. Althought they have a smaller surface comparing to many, they do still perform w/ in reach of others.
From other thread, there's a post saying that the T1-R is just getting better on the sidewall flex. With added weight, I still like the T1-S better....and cheaper too

I am very happy that the BFG KDs performed as well as they did......they are also not a new tire and I just picked up some 245/40 and 275/40/17s for my Fikses for $475 for all 4 !

I've never heard of a single durability problem with Toyo tires. The T1-S is an old design and has been out for several years -- no history of problems that I've discovered in my research. They are spec tires in a racing series for crying-out-loud, I doubt they have durability issues! Sure you aren't mistaking it for another brand (like Kumho, which HAVE had tires come apart with some of their models...).

Actually, I was surprised the Ecsta MX got such a lukewarm reception in the article.
From the direct experience on here, it sounded like a great tire for the money.
It was not consistent with what the Eurotuner article had concluded...

BTW, the Falkens have the wrong picture. The RT-215s are what I run on my FC, and they look very different from the pic in the article.
