Testors as brake caliper paint

Well, I got good news and bad news The good news is that I like using the Testors spray model paint because there are so many different colors available. I painted my calipers a while back with it and so far it has held up to many track days, brake cleaner, wheel cleaner etc. Loved it; no problem.

Now the bad news. I had been using the "Albany" brand brake cleaner in the white can from AutoZone. I've used several cans of this stuff and it never harmed the paint; always cleaned up perfectly. I finally used up all the cans of Albany cleaner I had and bought some new stuff that was on sale. It is the "Primius" brand in a black can also from AutoZone. This stuff dissolves the paint nearly instantly and it drips off onto the ground Oops.

So I guess I will be using the Primius brand to quickly and easily clean all my Testors model paint off and then have to use some real caliper paint

Was one chlorinated and the other not?
(Can you tell what chemical it was that caused the problem?)

That's possible; I haven't checked. I will look at the cans.

I had the opposite effect I painted my presilencer with header paint and went to clean a grease print off of it with the albany brake clean and ended cleaning everything off and had to respray it.
