stiff stiff and more stiff. Awesome setup. I say go for them, not just for brand name and blah blah shock dynos and stuff like that. My reason to go for them is availability to be serviced and rebuilt by Tein. How many other companies offer that service to a customer. Usually they are stingy or don't offer the service at all. I'm sure you won't absolutely beat them into the ground, but consider which coilovers would handle your elements better. Being in dirrty jersey you get cold temps. salt on roads. not always the best surfaces and so forth. something with rust coating or rust prevention is best. Do some research and look around.

my experience

I've been running TEIN Flex Types for a few years now. The Flexes are stiff, but still comfortable, which is something you'd want unless you're just going to drift the car. The TEIN drift series are ridiculously stiff, and I wouldn't recommend them for driving every day as I can only *imagine* what the ride would be like.

They're built and designed for *drift only* for good reason. It's best to follow their advice.

You can always get the Flexes and swap the springs for the drift rates if you feel the Flexes aren't stiff enough. You can even adjust the preload on the Flex Types to get the stiffness close to the drift series.

Go Flex Types if you plan on enjoying your car on the street and having a date willing to ride in your car with you for more than a few minutes. Just bein real.

Josh

Sorry to dig up this old thread, but does anyone know why these are only availible for the turbo FC? Is there any reason why they wouldn't fit a N/A FC?

There's no difference between the NA and TII suspensions that would prevent you from installing it on an NA car.

I think those are just rebadged, re-sprung Flex's, since they have all the same features.

Can anyone elaborate on the Super Drift coilovers? I read in a magazine (I think D-Sport) they tried a pair of them and said that when coupled with the EDFC, can be made to perform for grip driving as well... Does anyone have any input on this? I just got my hands on a 10AE, and was thinking about getting these with my new seats/harnesses.

All they mean by that is that they can adjust the damping on the fly, but really, most people will set it then never touch it again, so that'll be a complete waste of money to get the EDFC. I mean how hard is it to just get out and turn the *****?!

As mentioned above the SDF appears to be the same as Tein Flex, twin tube, but has higher spring rates.

The EDFC i believe would increase the # of increments for damping adjustment for finer tuning. Whether or not your butt dyno is tuned is for you to determine.

Alternatively.

The stances we stock have the same spring rates as the SDF 8/6 are monotube and have a lesser cost.

In regards to overhauling/valving services you would need to determine whether you require custom valving services or just replacement/rebuilds. Stance can offer you replacement cartridges and dampers. They are one of a small handful of companies that seem to take a lot of pride in their product.

Hope this answers your question and then some.

What kind of coilovers do you guys offer at Stance? I'm seen you guys around. What would you have as far as a really stiff suspension goes? do you have a website I can check out?

our website is under construction.

I can have Stances produced in SS-D format with higher spring rates of 12/10 if you want that. However those spring rates and valving would require sticky *** tires, R compounds preferred.

TEIN's Flex and Super Drift are valved completely differently.

As Juicyjosh stated a few years back, the Super Drift are recommended for track driving only, due to ride quality/the valving is just wrong for the streets/etc. But that's simply a recommendation as it is your choice.

I'm personally riding on Mono Flex in my FC and the ride quality when I drive on the streets doesn't bother me.

Would driving on Super Drifts on street decrease the life of the struts though? I dont mind riding on near rock-solid suspension. my friends may however... lol

i have the Super Drifts and on full soft they are bearable on semi rough streets, like in New York. i now wish they were a little softer like the way the Flex's are advertised. But when i go auto-x, they are phenomenal! The damping curve makes it a bit bouncy at full stiff, i also have the EDFC in progress of install. i just hate having to pull the rear speakers just to make adjustments, the fronts are easy.
I have no clue as to the longevity of the shocks in daily use, as i only bring my FC to the track.
