Get the JIC FLTA2's. With your club pricing you are very close to the price of those TEINS and I guarantee you'll be much happier with this type of shock setup.
Please contact me and I'd be happy to tell you about them.
The key is that the spring will always have preload, so the suspension travel is not dependent on the ride height.
We supply Teins also, but I think you get more for your buck out of the JIC's.
thanks, Rishie

why will the JIC be better than TEINs? I see the TEINs on lots of the Japanese race cars, but I seldom see JIC sticker anywhere... You can get the TEIN HA from the the forum member "osdesigns" for $1300 with all pillow mounts.

To be fair though, I have experienced both TEIN's HA and the JIC FLTA2's and I think the HA performs a lot better than the latter. Go with the Teins

Does JIC offer a shock that is comparable in price to the TEIN-HA? If the closest match is a shock costing 1800 when the TEINs are only 1000, it's not too persuasive.
It's like shopping for a boxter and being told a ferrari 360 is a better car-true but it's not a comparable product.

The teins HA's and the JIC fltA-2's are completley different classes of coilovers. The JIC's use a monotube design where as the Teins don't. The biggest difference is setup, the JIC's are available with different spring rates and can be tuned to your liking. Also the JIC's can be rebuildable in the U.S., also they can be custom valved depending on your requirements. The only way you can buy better coilovers in my opinion is if you buy some custom Koni's setup by Tripoint or Truchoice, some Penske's, like Hedgehog has, or something of that high of quality and adjustability. The Tein's are good coilovers, but for the money I'm going with JIC's.

Listen to Hapa.
The other issue is that the HA's may not maintain spring preload depending on how much the vehicle is lowered. On the other hand, the FLT-A2's can be.
Are they using the Tein HA's on the JGTC racecars? You can't compare apples to oranges. The geometry of the two are completely different.
the Tein HA's don't have a finger on the functionality of the FLT-A2's. That's why the HA's are so cheap and so massly whored out.

Rishie, how much do the JIC's retail for? IT all depends on how much money you want to spend. If you are talking about bang for the buck then in my opinion the HA's are the best. If you want to spend a lot of money say $1800, you can get teh Tein RE or even the FLEX and those two shocks would outperform the JIC's on the track. Tein designs shocks based upon the drivers needs. Whether it's street, track or drift, Tein has it all. They are the biggest suspension manufacturer in Japan now

FLT-1
FLT-A1

FLT-A2.
Forgive my ignorance, but do they only offer their most expensive shock for the FD, or are some of these other models also available? I want to add that some seem to be in or below the TEIN-HA price range.

JIC
From personal experience on my friend's car, do not get the JIC's. The ride is horrible, and car bottoms out all the time on U.S "normal driving roads".
JIC suspension is nice, but only belongs to super flat surface race track.
Go with the TEIN's, you will not regret it.

That sounds like a problem with your friend's compression damping setup and not one that is attributable to design of the JIC shocks. Usually when you're blowing through your wheel travel the springs are too soft or more likely there is not enough compression damping.
It sounds like his compression damping needs to be stiffened up.

The FLT_A2's list for $1850.00 which includes pillowball mounts front and rear.
Which suspension does your friend have? There are two types of JIC's coilovers available through the US MArket for the FD. The entry level SF-1's which are similar to the geometry of the HA's except non adjustable. The FLT-A2's yield a much different feeling and ride than those. They are 15 way dampening adjustable as well as having the ability of setting spring preload independently of the ride height. Not only that but they are a monotube design as opposed to the twin tube SF-1 and Tein HA's.
Club pricing puts the FLT-A2's at a phenomenal price for the setup. We offer Tein as well and I understand their reputation and size but the I have yet to encounter anyting I didn't like about the FLT-A2's. Fully anodized bodies and definitely appear to be well made. I'm awaiting some time to look at long term testing. Same goes with Tein as it's relatively new to our market as well.
Tuning:
Spring rates as well as dampening are customable at an additional expense and on a special order basis. All this tuning is done in the US at Ziel Motorsports available through dealers or distributors near you.

For less than $1850 you can get the Tein RE or the Tein Flex with pillowball mounts. These models are on the top of the line Tein suspension used by many professional racers in Japan. As far as build quality and tuning goes, I would have to argue that the Tein's are of the highest quality and tunng is relatively easy to do. If you are talking about bang for the buck or for jus straight performance, go pm OSdesigns for more information.

What I've found is that the spring rates are very high on those models and would not be comfortable for the street. Otherwise I would have to agree with you.
JIC has taken the necessary adjustments to the dampening and spring rates to give the best of both worlds.
Thanks, Rishie

Rishie, the spring rate is high on the Tein RE something like 895lb. However, you can swap out the springs or customize it to something more streetable like 550 or 450 lb springs. My friend has it and that is what he is planning on doing

JIC or ZEAL
I personally like ZEAL better cause they are made for circuit and street racing but$$$$ you have to get the B6 if you will buy one.
JIC is good, 15 way adjustble and made for the street. They are strong hold and rust prove. Get the FLT-A2
Tein, I heard there are some rusty problem. SO I am not sure,
I got my JIC on the way, after that, I will let you know more.
