I'm not sure I got it. I see people here saying that they are bad because they are twin-tube, but I'm not sure that the higher end models, i.e. RA and RE are twin-tube.

I don't know if they are or they are not, but the spec sheet says they are "single rod construction". I wonder if this is a translation error that means monotube. I would call them if I really cared - but I guess I don't .

There seem to be a lot fo JIC fans here, but I haven't found any details about them. I prefer to read things than call vendors and ask questions.

I have the TEIN Type HA's. These things ROCK! They are SS coils and 24 way adjustable damper. Nocab,The Glass Man, and Stevecod all have these coilovers as well as many other Forum Members. I have heard nothing but great things from fellow owners and I myself have nothing but the best to say about the quality and Price!! $999!

this is going to be a TEIN vs JIC war again.

Tein RE, monotube design
16way(24 clicks) adjustable dampener,
45mm rod diameter, large piston size
ride height is adjustable seperate from spring perch location

not a TEIN sales man...

It just comes down to the desired spring rates and valving. Once you've determined that I'd start comparing JIC, Tein, HKS, Apex-i and so forth. If you don't understand the differences I'm sure there's been a debate in the archives where you can find your answers.

It's not complicated to see why JIC's are suggested over the HA's for a price difference of like $500.00 or so with pillowballs and everything.

I believe the RE's to have higher spring rates. You can get different springs but the valving remains unchanged from what I understand.

The RE's come with 895lb/in on all 4 corners. I would only consider them for track only application. The RE also differs from the RA in that it seperates preload adjustment from height adjustment.

I don't know anything about the valving. I had planned to go with the Tein RE, but I'm seriously considering the JIC now. When I have figured out what rates and valving I want, I'll decide.

I have to say, I think it's great that there seems to be good, Rx-7 specific support in the US for the JIC. And I really don't think that the two JIC promoters need to be ridiculed (in another thread) because they consistently provide the same recommendation. I have to say, it is apparent to me that they are not clueless about the product - which is important to those of us that aren't looking to improve asthetics.

sbaker,

You are the freshest breath of air I have had in a very long time. I appreciate the fact that you understand that we are here to help. Muchas Gracias and my hats off to you for actually reading what I've written. It really bugs when people think I'm a Tein hater which couldn't be farther from the truth. I just empasize and reemphasize that the HA's are far different than the FLT-A2.

The FLT-A2 and RE's on the other hand are more comparable but comfortability on the street is nowhere near the same.

Thanks so much as I was beginning to loose interest in offering my consultation with regards to suspension. I am not here at the expense of my reputation and getting into meaningless "pissing matches". I ask open questions with an open mind and hope that each of you arrive at your own decisions based on the information that has been provided to you.

Thanks so much for your words.

Rishie
