stance coilovers- hood clearance issues
I just began to install my stance coilovers on my FD. Im running a scoote style hood and the dampening **** is hitting the hood. the hood "clicks" in but bc it touches, it wont close all the way, is there a way i can lower the dampening ****? also what are the 2 bolts under the **** for?
Does anyone have a link/digital copy of the manual?
while were at it, what is your ride height set to? from floor to fender arch?
thanks

benny, thats weird, I have the GR pro + and my adjustment **** does not come anywhere near my hood when it closes...I wonder if the scoote style hood's skeleton underneath might be different from oem....Ihave had no issues with my MS hood and Feed hood.....
Might be a stupid thought but did you check to see if you left any tools/sockets somewhere that can interfere with the hood closing?
the only 2 bolts that are on the adjustment **** is to secure the **** in place to the adjuster from the shock. The adjustment **** should be flush with that once installed.
Post up a pic...i dunno how much things have changed since2 yrs ago with stance

well i got them used so i have no idea. they are about 1.5" high.......
Does that look normal? it does hit part of the skeleton from the 3 vents due to the scoote style hood... do those 2 bolts look right?

Mine stick up 1.5" also. The nuts are what secure the upper mount to the assembly. I don't think having a flange nut on top of another nut is normal but it shouldn't have any effect on fitment just using it as a lock nut like that. I would put some lock tite or assembly lube on the adjustment *****, close the hood to mark it and use a hole saw to cleanly pop a couple holes in the skeleton. The hood liner on oem hoods is dimpled about 1/2" deep in these spots, sounds like the manufacturer of your hood overlooked that detail. My car is about 24.5" from floor to fender arch.

I used to have a fiberglass hood that wouldn't close on my shocks for the same reason. The hood was made in two layers, and the bottom layer contained molded-in support ribs. Basically, the hood support ribs would not clear the shock adjuster *****. To get the clearance I needed, I used a Dremel to cut a small hole in the bottom layer of the hood (sounds the same as what DriftDreamzSS did).
That worked for me with my shocks and that particular hood, but I think you'd need to check to see if that would give you enough clearance (assuming you're willing to give it a try).

cool thanks for the responses. I have no problem with cutting my hood, i just wanted to make sure it wasnt the coilovers before i go hacking it up.. seems a little higher than id imaged so just double checking!
will mark and cut a hole in the rib structure with a hole saw

I've got Stance coilovers and i mocked up my Scoot hood from Seibon and it did the same. I'll end up cutting small holes where i need them to clear. Also i have my ride height set and 25.25" from the ground to the highest part of the arch. I believe in Howard Colemans suspension thread he mentions the optimum settings for these cars are between 25-25.5" so i settled in the middle lol.
