Stance Coilovers
I was looking around at some suspension stuff and I ran across these Stance Coilovers. The price of these is the most attractive aspect, and I do realize that these do not come with a pillow upper for the front which is a little disappointing. Does anyone have experience with these coilovers?

The price for FC is around $1,300

Haven't heard anything about them actually. Might be a new company to the suspension market since they seem to have a lack of applications.
Kind of high price for not having top pillowball mounts/w camber adjustment.

I wrote an email to these guys, and they said that it does come with the pillow mount. I also found they are located 45min away from where I live and said I can visit their facility. The coilovers are made in Japan and are serviced at this location.
From the email I received and how it was written, I figure that these guys are probably Japanese.
Compared to other coilovers like buddy club, apexi and whoever else, they seem a bit more affordable. Also, unlike some of the other brands, they provide service here in the US.
I'm not sure what the quality is like with these, but I don’t see how it could be bad. If you know how these dampers work, they all use pretty much the same design; the traditional shim-stack. so I don’t see how they could get it wrong!

For that kind of money I'd be very, very weary of going with a new brand, as it's likely to be some cheap crap that isn't properly valved, has bad damping characteristics and wears out quickly. Tein Flex's can be had for around $1300 if you shop around. For less is the Tein SS, although it has fewer features. Tein is a good brand with US customer support. There's many cheaper choices, but they aren't likely to be too good. You get what you pay for (unless you get riped off), so cheap ones aren't going ot be as good (usually). I'd always go with a proven system, as shocks are way too important for handling to take a gamble on, especially a $1300 gamble.

these don't seem to offer damper adjustability, unless i am mistaken. quality seems good, but who knows. i can't seem to find much info on them, must be a new company. they asthetically look nice though.

oh ok, thanks for the info...hmmm, well the price seems good. too bad nobody seems to have any experience with them.
i wonder how this stacks up against other entry levels, like TEIN Flex.

so specs are:
- 9Kg/mm Front, 7Kg/mm Rear
- 15 way dampening adjustability (front and rear? single compression/rebound adjustable?)
- integrated pillow ball mount
- inverted monotube
does it have seperate preload adjustment?
edit: i went to their website, found a good pic:

I actually know they owner of Touge Factory, they've been around for a long time.
These coilovers have been prototypes for a while
by real life drivers like you and me. Every improvement was made to make them better.Nothing was cheaped out on, their goal was to make a damper that could compete and possibly better than huge brand name coilovers.
the guys who actually ran these. Were former users of Tein HE's , Silk Road RMS, etc. Theres a reason way these dampers are choice, and preferred. " Valving." Improper valving, makes any big name coilover look bad, in real life. Most Teins, Megan Racing, other brand names.all have poor valving charactistics.
Also for the money, this damper has everything you need, everything you dont.
15 way adjustability. You don't need an overkill 32 way adjustment. Monotube/inverted shock body. Polyurethane one piece upper mount,
for quiet operation. Polyurethane lower mount, No one does this.
Super low perches, for maximum slammage, etc. I will find the reviews for these
they are informative for any one who is interested in these.
and I wouldn't really say these are not brand name, you guys obviously haven't heard of ORIGIN, or D Drug, they are huge in Japan. I've seen these in person.
I'm impressed. I should be picking up a set soon, I'll let you guys know. Also
its $1200 , not the MSRP 1300. Still an awesome deal.

thanks for the info.
i'm very interested in these. seems just what i am looking for (spring rate is a bit stiff for me though, i wonder if they offer different rates).
keep this thread updated once you install and test these coilovers.
thanks

On the comparison of these to the tein flex:
The tein flex is obviously geared toward street driving with its low spring rates. The Stance coilovers have the 500/400lb f/r setup that a lot of racers run… You can see what they are going for with these.

Heres the owner/user of Stance SUS has to say
Hello,
I will try to answer most of the questions in regarding our coilovers.
Stance was developed with testing, redesigning, improving, and re-engineering. We have also learned during that time what is important in building top of the line coilover system.
Internal parts have to be developed within extremely high tolerances. Also the raw material used have to be high quality in order to be able to do this. Alot of the cheaper manufacturers do not have the capability to even mimick these things. Thats why they are cheap. Stance is developed at ISO certified facility with the highest standards in the industry.
All the coilovers are dyno tested for low speed and high speed force vs velocity for proper valving. What makes good coilovers and bad coilover is the dampening. Even tho there are many decent quality coilovers at low price, it takes a proper know-how to valve a coilover. This is not something that can be replicated or developed. Stance is developed with testing, research and experience.
S13 and S14 models have been developed and re-engineered to our specs, here are some of the notable things.
- We use 175mm springs on the front to allow extra range of adjusment(most coilovers uses 200mm-240mm). Rear shock body is short but we used extra long bottom bracket to allow very big range of adjusment. This allows you to lower your car very low or drive at stock height.
- We had some problems with top pillowball mount clunking with prototype after some hard use. So we have changed original multi piece mount to a more expensive 1 piece unit.
- S13 & S14 models are valved for 9k/7k springs. So we're not just throwing in the 9k/7k springs for sh*ts and giggles. Reason why it comes with 8k/6k standard is that from our experience with 8/6,9/7, 10/8 springs, we feel 8/6 is the best compromise rate for street and track.
Hope this answers most of the questions you may have.

ok, good info. looks like they are very good at answering question via e-mail. i think i'm going to send them an e-mail asking about more detailed specs, like piston diameter, maybe shock dyno info, etc.
i found somewhere that the monotube diameter is 56mm, which is pretty huge (bigger is better??). but i don't know whether that was for the FC3S model also...

yeah, a freind of mine has buddy clubs on his MKIII supra. Those are pretty nice, but they have bad U.S. support. And with the money i save getting the stance CO's over the buddy clubs, i could put toward a roll cage.
