hey, I just got this FD and I was going to take the wheels off today to start working on the brakes and I found out there is one of those security lugnuts with the wierd pattern on it. it was a repo car so nothing but the key came with it. I have no idea what company made it or anything. Were can I go to get the proper socket to get this thing off?

hopefully they put the sticker with the manufactures name and security pattern in the glovebox.

if not, u gotta weld a nut on there and crank it off.

good idea, thats alot easyer then trying to grind flats into it. I hope there isn't some sort of coating to prevent it from welding nicely

You can also get some cheap sockets and hammer them on there to get them off (what do you think thieves do as they aren't going to carry around welding equipment). Then just buy some new spline lug nuts which will come with the socket.

check your compartment where your jack is located.. I've owned 4 FD and 2 of them came with wheel locks from dealership. One of them the key was under the seat and other one in the compartment where your jack is located. Its much easier to look for the key than ripping them out.. I used gatorgrip socket on two (before finding the key 2 years later) and one I replace the stud and one taken off by welding.. Not fun..

good idea, i was all over the inside of the car looking but I didn't see it, I'll check the bins in the back.

I think MAC tools or Snap-On makes a socket that grabs the outside of the lug nut not matter what shape (sometimes requires grinding to get it to bite) and will remove a lock nut.

I encountered the same problem. Borrowed the sockets from a friend and off they came.

The socket solution works also by hammering it over the lug nut.... but be prepared to buy 4 sockets as they pretty much are hammered on there for good.
No reusing them.
