Saleen rims for FD?

Saleen rims for FD?
Hey guys, I was talking to some of my guru rx7 friends the other day with one of them pulling up in a S281 Saleen. I said I wasnt a fan of mustangs but those chrome rims just set off that car. If only there was a way to put those on my FD.......What he said was that IT can happen. They are the same bolt patteren and everything will match up. So if this is true, then this might be the way I wanna go. I just need to know if he was feeding me a line or can it be done? How much do these rims weigh and what are their specs i.e. ??x??. How much do they cost or you think I can get away with immation ones?
Thank you,
Jonas
P.s I didnt have a picture of the rims after a little searching. The way I describe them is, flat 5 spoke chrome rims. The newer Saleen version.

I was just wondering if it was a 94-98 body style, or the 99+ body style. I am not sure if the backspacing is the same on both the newer body styles that's why.
Upon a little ebay research it looks that both years use a 24mm backspacing wheel. These are both examples of cobra replica wheels.

There are some saleen rims on ebay but they don't list a backspacing. I don't know if you can get him to take a wheel off and measure it(in inches even). That would probably be the best bet. Have him take the wheel off, hold a straight edge to the back of the wheel, and measure with a ruler or tape measure to the back of the hub(the circular thing on the back of the wheel, where the wheel mounts) of the wheel.
As for if they turn out to be 24mm backspacing how to make them work on a FD? I have no idea. I don't think you could. Because with 24mm backspacing that would mean that the wheels would probably already stick out to far. I think spacers will only correct too high of an offset, not too low of an offset.
Then it comes down to how much money do you want to spend on chrome rims off of a saleen and trying to get them to fit your FD. IMHO, get some rims with the right offset to begin with.

Oh or you could just simply ask him if you can try one on your car to see how it fits. And a good backspacing for a FD wheel would be anywhere from 40mm-50mm , most people use about a 44-45mm offset though. The wider the wheel the more offset you want so that it doesn't stick out.

Black the rims in the first link are not the ones I was talking about. The second link might be the ones Iam talking about, but no pic was shown so I dont know if they are the right ones. What back spacing is excellent for FD's. I may be an idiot but why does back spacing have a big impact on what rims i can use?

Backspacing determines whether a wheel will stick out of the wheel well(imagine wheels sticking out like 15x10 Cragars on a '71 nova) or whether it sits back in the wheel well so far that it rubs the inside of the inner fender. Neither too much or too little offset looks great on a FD. Believe it or not the offset of the wheel can make or break how your car looks and/or if a certain wheel will work on your car. I think stock FD wheels are around 50mm but don't woute me, I used to run 45mm on 18's. And I think most people shoot for somewhere between a 40-45mm offset. The wider the wheels the more offset you want. If you're running a 10" wide wheel for example you want like 50mm offset. If you're running 8"-9.5"'s wide wheels then I think 45mm is sufficent. That's the best way I can explain it. Maybe someone else will chime in and explain better. Can you ask him to let you put one on?

I think these are the rims you are refering to, not the cobra r rims. Only bad think is that the site doesnt give the offset, just that they are 18x10 out back
