relability of high performance coilover shocks...

After reading up on posts and people saying coilovers need rebuilding after only 10s of thousands of miles, and TEIN not recommending their RAs be used on teh street due to short life...

I want to know how many miles have people done on their coilovers and which ones do u have?

I was thinking of JIC Magic Flt A2 or Tein HAs.

so... before i go and spend my bank account on a set, and then 20,000 miles later have to pull them and rebuild them i'm going to be kinda annoyed...

You could save some bucks and rebuilding effort by either by buying non-rebuildable shocks, or by not rebuilding rebuildable shocks

Seriously, if you're going to spend the cash to pick up shocks designed for racing, then get used to the idea of periodic rebuilding as part of your maintenance schedule.

If low maintenance is what you want, then get sealed, off the shelf shocks that you simply throw away and replace when they wear out.

We've got WRX's and IS300's with 20,000 plus miles and no problems with the FLT-A2. In fact I haven't received a single issue about a blown shock yet at this point.

I'd like to know the same thing. I'm getting a killer deal on them and I was told they're great. But a second opinion never hurts anything. Especially if it's a second opinion coming from a knowledgeable source. Thanx in advance.

I have a set of DMS coilovers on my car. Most of the performance shocks, including the DMS's don't have dust boots protecting the shaft seals. I bought dust boots and installed them on the shocks before putting them in the car. Hopefully that will increase the life of the shocks.

One interesting feature of the JICs is the independently adjustable spring perch and ride height. Most threaded-body coilovers combine that into one function. Should be no need for tender springs with the JICs.
