rear end reallly high koni strut rsr springs

running an 89 gtus practically stock.

Please forgive the length...

I have spent the last 3 months installing all new suspension bushings. Including the dtss, subframe and differential mounts... etc. I also sandblasted the rear suspension components, and painted them with rust encapsulator. There was even a gift of a s4 clutch type diff... which goes nicely with the 4.3 gearing.

I chose koni sport (yellow) for the struts, and i got my hands on rsr race springs.

The front is a nice height at 24.5" from the ground to the center of the fender lined up with the center of the hub. The front fender gap is about 0.75"- 1".

The rear is at 26.5" total with a fender gap of about 2". the wheels and tires are practically stock size at 225/50/16. I was expecting a rear gap of about 1" to 1.25"

Now i realize since i have not driven the car yet, the springs have not come to their final resting position, but I find it impossible that these springs would drop a whole 1.5" over the course of a couple hundred miles while the front remain practically the same. I would expect a max settling distance of about .25" all around.

The spring info:
Spring rate F/R:335/224lb
Drop distance F/R: 1.2"/2.0"

So my next guess is the struts. The springs alone dictate a majority of the the ride height. But the distance from the lower perch to the lower mounting bushing/bolt can also dictate height.

From the center of the lower mounting bolt, to the bottom of the strut where the spring would actually sit is about 10.5".

since I don't have the old struts anymore, i called the person i gave them to. He measured a bit shorter at near 8.x". Unfortunately i don't remember the exact number. If anyone has access to a set of fc shocks i would like to know what the height measurement is. Better yet another rear koni... wishful thinking.

the part number stamped on the strut is 8041 1111 which is the correct strut on koni's website.

so is the extra rake due to the strut? If so why does the part number match
Is it due to the springs? I have not measured the spring length, but i know it is shorter than the stockers. Aside from the sheer height the car has full suspension travel with no binding or noise. So the one time i drove it for 5 min, everything felt like it should...extremely tight, and needing an alignment like none other.

I am just looking for suggestions, comments... etc.
ill try to get some better pics with the tape measure tomorrow.
