Well, damn I just caught the .5 inch wider bit.

I guess I would get 17x7 and 8, which would be 7.5 and 8.5. Now if only I knew what offsets to get. My guess here is...

If my +32 are flush, to use 7.5 I need -6mm since a 1/2 inch is ~12mm and that split into each side would be 6mm both ways. Which would mean I'd get the +25 in 7"/7.5". 5x114

For the rears..I would need to subtract another 12mm to split the extra inch over both sides, meaning I'd need +13 or so, but considering the lowest offset they have is +25, I assume something is wrong in my calcs.

Is something inherently wrong in my calcs or am I not factoring something in? I guess I really should measure how much room I have before rubbing my HAs and then I can go from there.

Jim,

You are not in need of worrying about this. Just follow my recipe and you'll be good. It's when going to extremes that these minor details become an issue. PM me and let me know what you're thinking.

thanks, Rishie

My Photochoppery. I would like this setup with a nice *dark* blue paint. I suck at PSing the color change tho.

Hmmm, well I'm thinking of getting some Gram Lights for Christmas. I've never bought wheels before so I dont really understand how all the offset and everything works.

I've got Eibach track pro springs and would want the widest wheel I can fit thats not going to have rubbing issues.

ARD T2, would you know exactly what to get me???

Also, what do you guys think would be the best looking on a Montego Blue car. Prob just the standard silver color. I'd prob like that goldish color though but it might be to flashy for me......I'm old lol

ARD T2 - Can you PM me some prices for the widest size that wont rub with the Eibach springs???? I'm interested in 17 and 18's, I'd like 18's but I dont know how much more they are, or if they will fit good. I'd prob rather have a nice wide 17 than a more narrow 18. Anyway, you prob know what i'd like you talk to guys about wheels all day long lol

Thanks,
STEPHEN

9 x 17, 40-mm offset with 255/40-17s

Stephen,

Rishie and I pretty much agreed that a 9 x17, 40-mm offset with 255/40-17 should be ok. In your case with the Pettit springs I'd get 245/40-17s to see how the clearance is. Get a set of Yokohama AVS I's (they're cheap and soft). The AVS I's don't last long, so if you find that you could have gone 255/40-17s, well it won't take long to burn up the AVSes, and you'll have fun doing that too

I'd suggest 255/35-18s with 9 x 18, 40-mm offsets, but ride quality might suffer with such a short sidewall profile. With the Gram Lights being, well, so light...you might end up bending a rim on the public roads with 18-inchers??

BTW, you can'be older than me, and I like the gold centered Gram Lights

Well the differance in 245 and 255 is only 10mm which is less than half and inch. That shouldnt be a big deal lol. I'd prob go ahead and do the 245/40 just to be safe.

What about the back??? Cant I run wider tires on the back?

17's would prob be better for me anyway, there is no telling how much extra I'd pay for 18" rubber. When you buy new tires every year that extra $100+ for rubber would add up over the years.

Thanks man,
STEPHEN

Wider in back

yes, you can run 10-inch wide rims in back, but if you're staying with 17s all around, you might as well stick with 245s all around, to able to rotate the tires. I wouldn't run wider tires on the 9-inch wide wheels though...stick with 245s or 255s on the 9ers...

Well, I'm not really that worried about rotating, I'd rather have some good fat tires in the back lol

So it looks like 17x9 with a 40mm offset and 245/40/17 in the front with 17x10, 40mm offset and prob something along the lines of 275/35/17 or something like that right. WOW, I think I'd be in love haha

What do you think would be the right size tire for the rears so that the side wall is the same height as the fronts. I guess if they couldnt match up exact I'd rather the backs be a hair taller than the front versus shorter. Was I pretty close with the 275/35 or is that even a correct size lol

Thanks,
STEPHEN

275/35-17 is the right size, but no one makes it

Unless you go with 18s in back, so you can go 265/35-18. With 10 x 17s, you could go 265/40-17, and it will be only slightly taller...Max Cooper has that fitment: 245/40-17 on 8.5 x 17 and 265/40-17 on 9.5 x 17...You'd be going 9 and 10 x 17s, which will be fine...
