Gram Light by RAY
Just read about the Gram Light from Ray. They look great and will fit the FD, 18" coming out soon. Wonder what the price are like here. ARD T2, want give us a quote on that?

The Gram Light are similar in weight to the TE37 but will be cheaper. I believe retail in 17" are in the mid to low $300.00.
The only draw back is that RAYS made these to compete with some of the other rims on the market.........they are cheaper since they are not forged like the TE37 and most of the Volk line up.

Here's the latest info on the GL57:
Available in January the GL57C will have offsets for the FD in 17x8.5 and 17x9.5. The GL57C are not forged and retail will be about 320 each.
Later in the year 18" will be available in the GL57F which is F-for forged. These of course will be more expensive.
Also later during the year Volk has the GT-C comming out. The GT-C like the rest of the GT seies is a leight weight two piece rim. This one is a 5 spoke that sort of looks like the old school Equips.

I can help you guys out with all these wheels. Just let me know. For the gram lights I will need to order four or five sets.
The GL's should be fine if they are branded Volk.
Thanks, Rishie

Reboot, I got another one for you. I dont remember the month of the issue, but in Turbo Magazine earlier this year they did an article on the Apex'i Drag integra. (FWD twin turbo H22A tranversely mounted, etc.) That car had two sets of Volks on it. In the back we saw white TE-37's. In the front were a set of Volks I never seen before. They looked to be 6spoke and were flat black with a red circle around the hub. It also appeared to have some writing on a couple of the spokes, but if you have a pic. of those, or a name that would be awesome.

i couldnt find the names of those rims and the rays site has broken links. i think after the turbo magazine interview they stopped using it. i'm pretty sure its by rays because their 'speed choppy' rims looks something like the ones on the integra. heres a picture of it from the magazine--

The rims on the front of the integra are discontinued from what i know.
They are Volk Racing IMSA series Touring Evolution
These were back in like 95-96. Came from the same line as the old school GTP and GTP Daytona.

way to come through in the clutch team!!!! KNIGHT, do you know if those wheels ever came over to the US? If so, they are as rare as a cheap popcorn at the movies. Do you Know?? Reboot? I dunno.. What in your opinion is baddest set of wheels available, provide with pics is possible.

I haven't seen those rims on any US car yet...but i'm not saying that someone never brought it. The thing is that back in like 95 the import scene wasn't as big and it was hard to get stuff from Japan, no one knew who imported or could import stuff.
I am pretty sure that they are discontinued (99% sure)....but you can always ask Mackin Industries directly since they are the exclusive importer of Volk. If not you can try and get someone to look for a used set in Japan.
As far as best rims I really like VOLKs in general but for the longest time my favorites where the Super Advans (3 piece 3 spooke) and the Advan AV5 (5 spoke). Those rims were the *hit back in like 95 ahhaahh

They are definitely coming in. Please don't worry the folk. Considering we are like ten years behind Japan over here it's no surprise that they might be discontinued over there, but I doubt they would produce it just for us.
The GL is a thin 5 spoke wheel somewhat resembling an ADVAN, like the RG or something. I can't exactly remember. I have a fax of it and it's specs but it is a shitty black and white thing of a copy.
I am an authorized distributor, spoke with my rep at MI and confirmed what the Saint had purchased.
Anyways it's the best priced RAY's thus far to hit US as far as I've known.
By the way, I got a hold on the ADVAN line finally. They take 4-5 weeks to get here, but I can get you a pretty decent deal. Not like the Volk, but good.
Laters, Rishie

ARD T2, What are you talking about?
We were dicussing the Touring Evolution (aka TE85) that are on the Apex'i Drag Integra. And, yes they are discontinued.
If you look up the thread you will see that I gave dates, sizes and even pricing for the GL57C.
The GL57 is a new rim in Japan and will be available in the states starting in January for most people.
There are two GL57 the C-cast and F-forged. I think you need to call up Li (your rep.) at MI and get your info straight. The GL57C will be a low priced rim that many people will be able to afford but the GL57F will be more.
And the states are no longer 10 years behind Japan. If you remember in the early 90's people did not have the resource or support to get stuff in the US. Now the US is considered a market for many Japanese tuners.

Damn, you've got some hostility in you. So I misread the last post. My information is accurate and Li has been informing me well. I am sorry that I was not paying attention to what you were discussing as I thought this thread was for the GL57's and yes I know that there is a forged version as well as a cast.
I just went to the last thread and read it. I did not mean to undermine your knowledge in any sense. I will continue to keep laying down facts for the guys here, with hopes that I am not upsetting anyone.
See ya later Mr. Knight,
Rishie
The "ten" years thing is an exaggerated generalized statement and does not only apply to the automotive industry. I could feel your anger from the thread. Sorry if I wrote something that upset you. lates. Thanks for setting me straight. hehe.

If you got hostility from my post...sorry Rishie. Thought you were jumping on my case. As far as 10 years i would agree with you back in 95 we couldn't get crap.....now days you prob know how fast we get stuff in from Japan.
The GL are plain rims but i like them...dunno if i would get the cast but the forged are cool. There are some really small differences in the spokes and the graphics on the two. The forged are a little sharper i think.

Cool, I fully agree with you about the cast versions. I can't seem to justify getting a RAY'S that's not forged. But hey, you got the name at a killer price, so more power to you.
I'd be interested in finding out if these cast wheels will be stronger than the typical knock off casts that we see around.
Oh yeah, kinda looks like a rough five spoked version of the RG or "Konig Traffic". Just my opinion. I love the RG's.
Thanks, rishie
