Question for people w/Volk Racing wheels

I am in the market for some Volk Racing wheels and have been told that some of the Volks have an anodized lip instead of a polished lip.I was wondering if anyone with the anodized lip has had any problems w/scratching the lip or not? Thanks

Yup, the carwash has chipped the rim of one of my black wheels twice. I think any rim can get scratched -- it just shows up more when the color is much darker than the silver metal underneath.

Nice car in your pics there.

So what's the difference between a scratched polished lip and a scratched anodized lip?

The scratch in the anodized lip will show up easier because the anodization is usually a different color than the base metal.

I concur. haha. The anodize will simply be a surface coloring right? Meaning it does not penetrate deep into the metal? Cause i've scratched anodized pieces and i just see the bare metal there, no translucent shading.

It depends.
There is "mil-spec anodizing" which is a surface hardening treatment.
It really does work.
If you try and cut or drill aluminum with the mil-spec anodizing, you'd be surprised how easy it is the base metal gives versus the surface.
I've only seen this stuff in black, but I've heard it's possible with other colors.

Most of the (color) anodizing is not mil-spec, and it just bling bling factor.

<-----Rotary n00b's 1st post! Long time Mazda lover, Just bought my first ('87)RX-7 yesterday.

I have LE37Ts on my Protege5. The lip is polished.
I've had them for about a year now with no scratches, bends, or problems at all...and I drive hard on some pretty crappy surfaces. I have to admit that I'm a tiny bit paranoid about them when it comes to parking, though. Automatic car washes are not even an option. The track that guides your car through WILL scratch your lip, whether it's on the inside or out. IMO, auto washes are one of the worst things you can do to your Volks.

Here's a couple pics of my P5 and the LE37Ts
