Question Question about this pattern w/ offset

"These wheels are 5X114.3 bolt pattern with a 35 mm offset" I was looking to buy some wheels and this is what I found in the mist of searching, to my understanding shouldn't it be 5x114 bolt pattern and 40mm+ offset? Or would this setup actually work?

wheel width matters too...but generally +40 is the absolute minimum offset you want to run on an FD. And the bolt pattern is 114.3 mm.

crap so what would happen if I got something with 35mm offset? Would it be just clearing it or actually rubbing on the struts?

+35 wheels will stick out further than +40 wheels. Whether that is a problem or not depends on wheel widths, tire sizes, alignment, suspension parts, etc. We need more info to give you a more definite answer.

And the FD has no struts (it has a shock at each corner).

well the wheel width will be 18x8.5 and 18x9.5 as for the tires I was planning on getting 235x40 and 265x35. This is what I figured, I dont mind rolling my fenders a little either. What do you reckon?

Several manufacturers make wheels in those sizes that actually fit (+40 to +45 offset).

In those sizes at +35 offset, you will definitely have to roll the fronts and probably the rears as well. Just choose some wheels that fit in the first place. Wheels with too low of an offset create other problems as well, such as altered suspension geometry and increased loading on the wheel bearings.

It's not a "killer deal" if they don't fit.

Yes It is!

It will kill his fenders....... It will kill his tire sidewalls........ It might kill his hub bearings........ Hell, it might even kill him if he's cornering hard on them and a wheel comes off and he hits a tree or something......... LOL
