pretty intense wheel fitment question...
so im curious, strictly curious if i can fit a 17x10.5 +30 in the front of an fc. now i know its gonna require some extensive mods, but if anyone has some helpful info as to what exactly would be required, thatd be awesome. if any of you have some super aggressive front wheel set ups, please post pics with specs. any and all help will be greatly appreciated.

No way in hell under stock fenders or stock suspension...
Are you going hippari stretch on the tires?
Cause your only option is a 275 / 40 / 17...
If we're talking that combination, you need like a 1" spacer to get it to clear the insides.
Then, you need like a 2" overfender to cover the damn thing.
Are you going for looks?
Or are you actually putting down over 400hp+???

no numbers, but should be in and around 400, 350 at worst. but its gonna be a slide car, strictly that. with the inner fenders cut out, deeper ones fab'd in, with a spacer of course. but some negative camber should help a little, and the fenders are probably gonna be 25mm over. but all signs are pointing to no, huh? its really just an idea of mine, nothing at alls in stone as of now anyway, just hoping for something nasty aggressive and the wheels are retarded cheap. keep all ideas, thoughts, and/or advice coming please... and id love to see some aggressive front wheel setups for reference, PLEASE POST!!
and thanks RETed, like i said, everything helps, and my experience and history with fc's, or any mazda for that matter, is very short to say the least.

just cruised over to the wheel specific thread, learned alot, saw some nice stuff. thanks anyway, but i think im gonna close the case of the 17x10.5. at least in the front. but if you guys can, post pics and specs, i know ive said it a ton already, but im just anxious to see what some of you fc sliders run as far as wheels and tires.

that is getting close to the biggest you can go on standard guards... that has only a couple of mm clearance between the lower suspension arm/swaybar at full lock..
10.5 is way too big... would probably be really heavy to steer aswell....

you would need an offset very close to ZERO.
no way a +30 is gonna fit, it will rub the strut or spring perches.
offset to clear the strut/perch will really depend on your setup/brand of choice.
some guys make the bolt holes on the strut lower mount (to the knuckle) into slots instead of holes, so they can tilt the strut more (negative camber) and gain clearance for the wheel/lip/tire. if that makes any sense good, if it doesnt, then maybe that was too much info for you.
really, 10.5 is nuts up front, a 9.5 is perfect already kinda big
the steering effort depends a lot on steering rack, ratio, camber, toe, tire choice, and tire pressures... 285's up front for me are no trouble around town.

10.5 is pushing it... like owen said, it'd have to be ~ +0 for the wheel to clear the suspension. and there's no way that would fit under the stock fenders.... you could probably stretch some 235 or 245's on it and tuck it under +30mm fenders though.
for reference, here's 18x9.5, somewhere close to +0.... not quite sure on spacer sizes.... tire size is 215/35.
no way a bigger tire is fitting with that offset. and a 10.5 with the same offset will stick out another half inch.

You'll never need that much wheel/tire up front for drifting an FC. EVER. 10 would be the most you would ever need, and even then, when it comes down to it, 9.5 will be a better choice b/c you can get more steering angle. Sure, race cars (grip) run really wide fronts and super wide rears, but their steering angle is NOTHING. They don't need any. Drifting, especially on an FC, needs maximum steering angle modifications.
Tubbed inner fenders don't mean **** when you still would hit your sway bar and LCA.

I was replying to the original poster, not you. He wants a 10.5 with a 245 or bigger... for drifting. Which is completely retarded. You.. 10s will fit like I said. PM "Owen is fat". He has exactly what you are looking for.
