Question A place that fixes bent rims ?

Hi
I have a rim that appears to be out of round (see my avatar). I have a shimmy in the car around 60-70 mph & up. I cant see any signs of damage, but when I have the car jacked up I notice some "up & down" variance from the ground. I swapped wheels from side to side & it is the wheel, not the hub, that is the problem.
Can anybody recommend a place that does rim straightening?

I recommend Wheels America in Chicago. You can find them by searching Wheels America in google.. The website is fixrim.com I believe. AWESOME bunch of guys up there. 100.00 fixes a rim. WELL worth it!

Why don't you try to have them balanced first just to make sure it is the wheel that is out of round. If it is the wheel, check you local phone book. Or even ask for phine numbers when are getting the wheels balanced.

If you can see that it is not round when you jack up the wheel and spin it by hand, rebalancing won't help. Tires get out of round sometimes, though. If it isn't the wheel, it could just be the tire. You will have to replace the tire if that is the case. Your avatar is too small for the problem to be obvious in the picture. But if the rim is visibly bent, well then there is no sense talking about balancing and out-of-round tires.

If it's the wheel, one of those wheel fix places should be able to help.

I had good luck with wheelcollision.com for some bent BBS alloys from my Miata. The repair was beautiful, straight and way cheaper than replacing these rare wheels. Good turnaround on the service. Would use them again if I am unlucky enough to need to.

I had a friend who took his factory BMW 5 series wheel with no lip in there to have it fixed after bending it on a curb. I honestly could not find any difference in the repaired wheel compared to the other three; it was absolutely perfect. My friend is **** and if a fly had sneezed on it he would have noticed. He couldn't find anything at all different

Wheels America does work all over the country but being in Dallas he dealt with them face to face and said it was a great experience.
