Pics of Volk GT-P on my FD

the 17x10's weighed about 19lbs...I did not weigh the 17x8's....didn't have time. :o
Tires are 265/40/17 rear and 235/45/17 front.
If I could change something I DEFINITELY would get 235/40/17 in the front instead. The 45 size tire is just too damn big and I am scraping when I go over speed bumps. Its very annoying. I'm going to order replacements from tire rack ASAP.
Sigh.
Anybody want some a pair of 235/45/17 Kuhmo Ecsta Supras? I'll cut you a hell of a deal.

Unless you guys have seen these wheels in person there is no way you can fathom the finish. This wheel has one of the nicest finishes I've ever seen and as DEF said, it was overcast.
If the sun was shining those wheels would be blinging hardcore. The machine work on the face is awesome. I love them DEF, for what he paid, the weight, and they're a two piece. It's a great frikin' wheel.
Prices are confidential and will be given out individually. I would appreciate that none of my customers disclose their prices to anyone else. This is special pricing for the guys and gals supporting our forum. Everyone gets the same pricing, but it should come from the Horse's mouth so to speak. I am the Horse, so just PM me your phone no. and I'll verbally price it out for you.
Thanks, RIshie

I have also seen those on a Supra, at Englishtown the other week actually. Pretty sweet. I want something with more spokes though. I'll probably get the LE37A in gunmetal. BTW, those tires do look really tall, even in the back. Better go with a lower profile.

Due to the fact that this is a 17, the only way to get a lower profile on a conventional size would be a 255/40 and that will be really stretched out on the 10 inch wheel that he has back there.
The majority of 17 inch tires all come in 40 series and therefore makes it difficult to get a really wide tire and stay within the stock tire's O.D. As far as I've been able to research there aren't any conventional brands with a 35 series in a 285, which would be right on -0.1 in. of discrepancy. Too bad they haven't made this size. It would work for all the Supras, VR-4's blah blah blah.
The 265/40 is only a .25 in top and bottom off of the stock's O.D. The only comporable solution would be a 255/40 which is commonly run a 9" wheel. For a 10, this was the best way to go. Plus the extra little cushion can't be bad for the wheels or his ride quality, since that was a negatory aspect of going with the 18's.
As for the fronts, a similar problem is encountered when trying to match maximum width with stock O.D., on a 17". This only applies if stock O.D. is about 24.8-25.00 in. = 225/50/16. If running a 235/40/17 you will be undersizing the fronts a lot more than the rears, not good if have ABS - may cause the ABS system confusion as the fronts are always rotating faster than the rear. This may not be a problem on the FD, but is on my FC GT-X. ABS light remains intermittent.
The 235/40/17 will be about 0.2" shorter top and bottom = 0.4", with a discrepany of almost an inch if running a 265 in the rear. A 235/45 is only 0.2" shorter than the 265/40. If RUBBING is a major issue, I would suggest minimizing the width to a 225/45/17 and this will be within 0.2" total of the stock O.D. This should ensure that you will not rub, as you've gained approx 5mm on the inside and shortened it by a coulple tenths.
Keep this information somewhere. I answer these questions all the time and all of you should gain access to a tire calculator somewhere. They're awesome, or create it in EXCEL, download it from somewhere.
DEF, if you do some basic measurements you can interpolate what size will work better than that 235/45.
Hope this helps you out DEF,
Rishie

Of note: My rubbing problems seem to have been alleviated somewhat. Whether this is my car settling down on my new springs or a minor adjustment in my driving style (I am careful to slow down a bit when I see sizeable graduations in the pavement).
Those pictures I took really suck. I just washed and waxed my car and put some of that tire shine stuff on there and my car looks twice as good. I highly recommend these wheels!
