Pettit Fender Flares 11.5 and 335 what are the Odds? (PICS INSIDE)
#51
Okay, I think I have this figured out. Per the following website:
https://www.rsracing.com/tech-wheel.html
So, for example, my front wheels are 8.5 inches measured from the inside of the rim. So, 1/2 of this is 4.25 inches. My measurement from the backspace to the inside lip of the rim is 6.5 inches. Because my backspace is greater than my center measurement, I have a positive offset and it is 6.5 inches minus the 4.25, or 2.25 inches which converts to (in millimeters) a +57 offset.
My rears are 12.5 inches measured from the inside of the rim which is 6.25 to the centerline. My backspace measurement is 7.625 inches so again, I have a positive offset which is 7.625 - 6.25 or 1.375 inches or a + 35 offset in millimeters.
Experts correct me if I am wrong on this.

Front Wheels:
8.5 inches measured from inside of the rim = Total Spacing
9.5 inches from outside lip to outside - Total Outer Spacing
Backspace to outside lip = 6.5 inches (I know I posted earlier this was to the inside but I know this goes to the outside and is correct - the guy put a straight edge over the lip and measured to this)
So 9.5 TOS/2 = 4.75 which is smaller that the backspace of 6.5, so I have a positive offset of 6.5 - 4.75 = 1.75 inches or in mm:
+44.5 offset
Rear Wheels:
12.5 inches measured from inside of the rim = Total Spacing
13.5 inches from outside lip to outside - Total Outer Spacing
Backspace to outside lip = 7.625 inches
So 13.5 TOS/2 = 6.75 which is smaller that the backspace of 7.625, so I have a positive offset of 7.625 - 6.75 = 0.875 inches or in mm:
+22.2 offset
Rishie, sound correct?
Now, to complicate matters, I am going to push out the front rims a bit, probably be about 1/4 to 1/2 inches to make the rims more flush with the fenders so my front offsets have to be redone!
Finally, I second the recommendation for Forgeline rims. I have had mine for 5 years and they are a great 3 piece product with many nice styles. Here are mine:

Roto - Congrats on phase 1. BOL i'm keeping my eyes peeled. It's funny cause I met with the Iforged Owner and checked out the facility. If this falls through I'm confident that I can make sure your Sprints come out fine. I'll do some quality control for ya.
David,
Just one correction:
Total Spacing, imho, would be Front Spacing + Back Spacing = total Spacing. This means that semantically the larger # is the total spacing. The smaller # I don't know what to call it other than the "manufacturer's printed rim width". lol.
HOWEVER YOUR CALCULATIONS ARE CORRECT AND YOUR FITMENT ALSO SOUNDS CORRECT FOR THE FD with the Petit.
AND I CAN UNDERSTAND WHY YOU NEED TO PUSH OUT THE FRONT SOME MORE.
So basically let's translate this into "THE CATALOGUE SIZE".
18x8.5 +44.5
18x12.5 +22.25 offset
Sweet goodness that's basically what I recommend, well wider for the front. Go figure........
OK so now my recommendation is to SEND BACK THE FRONTS and have them built wider. hehe.
Ask for a 9.5" +45 ish. Then run 265/35 up there to improve the steering response.
Worst case a 5mm spacer is about the limit otherwise for the existing wheel.
Car looks great too.

I am trying out some 1/4 inch spacers tomorrow and we'll see how those work out. I have the extended ARP studs and will run 255s. Hope this works out.

As an aside, I ended up using 1/2 inch spacers on the front to push my wheel flush with the fenders. Looks much better IMO. Now I just have to recalculate the offset
#58
haha no more calcs. But that's awesome, a good easy way to achieve the look you wanted.
your offset is simply going to be reduced by the width of the spacer. i.e. +45 minus half inch spacer is like a +33.

so my wheels are still not here even though i ordered in october of last year. I will NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH THEMODCITY.COM AGAIN! MITCH IS AN ABSOLUTE LIAR! He talks in circles and i keep catching him in lies. Even worse he wont return my deposit. He said that even though they are late he wont rteturn it, which would be reasonable if they were a few weeks or even a month late but five months?!!! come on!

As an aside, I had to raise my backend up about 1/2 inch to accommodate the 335s. They were rubbing pretty bad on the inside top fender wells. Every time I went around a corner at Deal's Gap, I'd hear a nice screeching sound
