Opinions needed on fd suspension
Earlier this year I installed a set of tein s-tech springs on my stock touring shocks. Although it lowered the car substantially I didn't think the ride was too hard. However a couple of months ago I bought a set of 18" GL 57Pro wheels and I now find the ride to be extremely harsh plus I notice the wheels hitting the fender liner the odd time when I go over very large dips and bumps in the road. I know my shocks are dead and I want to replace them with koni sport adjustables. So here's my dilema: should I just get the konis and install them with the tein springs or should I ditch the teins and buy a set of eibach sport spring to go with the new shocks? I know the eibachs don't lower the car as much and probably aren't as stiff. What do you think?
p.s. car is primarily street driven.

You did not state you previous tire size wheel size combination before going 18", and you did not give the size of your 18" tires.
Since the ride quality changed from fine to harsh with the tire/wheel change, it is obvious what happened.

Previous wheels were stockers. New wheels are 18x8 front with 235/40 and 18x10 rears with 265/35.
Yeah, I know what happened. I am asking for opinions on whether to go with koni shocks with eibach sport springs or with tien s-tech springs. Hopefully someone has tried both of these combinations and will be able to provide some feedback.

Honestly, my car got BETTER when I went to 500/400# coilovers with Koni shocks than when I had Eibachs. The Eibacks weren't stiff enough to keep the car from crashing over dips and bumps at that ride height.
For the fender issue, if you've got a lowered FD and aftermarket wheels, you need to roll the front fenders. I'm going to make this my sig.

Obviously the 18's ride harder because there's less tire to cushion the ride. Tires are a big factor in harsh rides. Some 13's with some 8" sidewall tires would look crappy but absorb a lot of road harshness.

I just bought RSR Race springs for the car too, damnnn. These coils are such a great value i could not refuse.
So what do I know of them so far? Well I drove my friends EVO8 with them and was extremely impressed by how smooth they rode. The turn in and steering response was phenomenal, just like any other good coilover. I was in all honesty hoping for "not so good" results because we carry much more expensive lines of coilovers. We were hoping the results to be as low as the price tag. That just wasn't the case. I ordered my set and will get them shortly. Anyone else wanting to test these out for any of their applications please do inquire. I'm looking for as much short term and long term testimony on these coilovers. If possible we might be able to custom make them based on the results.
- Uppermounts included F/R, Camber plate for FC3S
- Inverted Monotube Damper for FC ONLY. FD = double wishbone
- Spring rates: 9k/7k for FC, 12k/12k for FD
- Independent Ride height and spring preload
- Teflon coated shell casing
- Separation of Oil and Gas via a "FREE Floating" piston. Eliminates cavitation issues.
- Replacement Dampers available in states = 1 Yr Manuf honorable WARRANTY.

Handling is one of the biggest things i look for in a car. I know FD's have great handlign to start with, but what is the best bang for the buck sorta speak in terms of adjustable coilovers?
I looked at these Stance coilovers, but im wondering if the lower price will affect the quality.. Also could someone mention how sprink rate works? im guessing the higher the spring rate then softer? (ie. 12k)

Higher numeric spring rate means stiffer. Springs are measured in "pounds per inch" (or an equivalent, like kg/mm) which means "how many pounds of force does it take to compress this spring 1 inch?". More pounds per inch to compress the spring 1" = stiffer spring.
Wheel+tire weight has a rather noticable effect on ride comfort, in my experience. Heavier wheels and tires decrease ride comfort.
I like coil-overs since their infinitely adjustable ride height allows you to adapt the car to work with your tire sizes, driving habits, alignment, etc. etc. (there are many factors that can affect if the tires rub). And becuase coil-overs use standard sized springs, you can also change the spring rates pretty easily.
But OEM-style springs tend to be softer compared to the often too-stiff springs that come with many coil-overs. And their simplicity is nice. You might also look at H&R springs. I thought I read that one of the options from H&R were better for avoiding rubbing due to their combination of a conservative amount of drop and fairly high stiffness (for OEM-style springs, still probably way softer than the too-stiff springs on many coil-overs). My memory ain't perfect, though, so seek factual confirmation on the springs rather than trusting what I have posted here.
