Ohlins are known as one of the best shocks available, they are also one of the most expensive. I have an older version of the shocks I picked up used and had rebuilt. I've been very happy with them, I am not sure how Ohlins does it, but they work brilliantly on the track and ride nicely on the street.

i don't think they make the flag series for the rx7. I have been trying to determine what coilover setup i want. i have been looking at zeal function x and ohlins. The ohlins have the pcv coilover setup but i believe it has been discontinued and this new dfv coilover kit.

by the way very nice coilovers. Are the flag series the competition coilovers? Do these need to rebuilt every 10-15,000 miles? How do you like the ride with the Flag series?

the car with the flags is amazing
it depends on how you run them
15k miles of track use id imagine they need a rebuild
i have about 5k of street driving and like 1000 miles of track which is quite a bit i think

ive been lookin at the zeals too because they seem the best for the rx7
it just sucks because with the evo i have SO many options all the way up to 9000$ motons ETC any big brake kit i could ask for and so many more mods with the rx7 im limited to only front bbks and a few sets of coils

thats why i was stoked when i found this thread because i assumed there were no ohlins for the fd since i coudlnt find any

i found out the dfv coilover setup comes in 3 different versions. entry level is around 2300, mid level is 2750 and finally the last one is over 3000

hey mot, how do you think 11kg/11kg spring rates will work on the street?

thats exactly what i would run for the FD i was thinking somewhere from 10k-10k to 12k-12k i think 11 would be perfect
and on the streets with the delrin bushing and maybe a 4pt bar the car would still be driveable
i dailyed my evo with an autopower 6pt cage the ohlins and toyo ra1s
SOMEHOW ohlins have a great way to make a sick track coil still comfortable on the street

i guess when i have the money, i am going ohlins instead of zeals. i just need to decide what version to get since they might not have the flag series. The dfv might be the best option for ohlins since it is supposedly better than the older pcv suspension kit

Excuse my ignorance but are saying 11Kg/mm? If you are you'd might as well weld the shocks solid. 11Kg/mm is 616Lb/in or am I mistaken?

haha yeah youre right
and its honestly not that bad
if you search around youll see most street coilovers at 6-9k
and most track at 9-12k for the rx7
and one of the zeal coilovers is actually a 16k 16k rate

The typical "track" rate up front is 550 lb, so that's not terrible.

I still question having the same rate in the back, which seems to seperate how Japanese coilovers are oftern set up vs. American, but Fritz has been telling me how much he likes a set of Tiens he's got that are either 800/800 or 1000/1000, I can't remember.

yeah the japanese tend to like stiffer all around
because they can feel the car more
but speaking with people at ohlins they say if those amazing japanese drives got the correct spring rate theyd be even faster
but who knows

new update. the 3 versions are not really versions

one comes with the complete suspension setup. one without the springs and one with just shocks.

i do not believe they will be doing a flag series for the fd anytime soon.

i am also looking at aragosta "standard" coiover setup.
