Stay away from those Tanabe and Tein springs.
I've seen pics of both springs, and it looks like they have LESS clearance than stock!
WTF???

the front tires rub the spring and the wheel well,i grinded out the fenders and the is no more rub there, but it still rubs on the spring?
i'm thinking a 215/40/17 on the front.
the care looks awesome though. i just want o be able to drive it hard without worrying about blowing a tire.
Spacers, I think so!

You shouldn't have any fender rub issues with a 225/45/R17 tire on a +40mm offset rim, unless there is something wrong with your car.

You can run like a 1/4" spacer and should still fit under the stock fenders.

225 on a 8.5 is easy, a buddy of mine has 205/45/17 stretched on a 9"

not hard. the actual mounting part is actually easier. the only thing that 'could' be hard is getting the bead to seat. but not on that little of a stretch. it should just mount right up. even 225/40 on a 18x9.5 has no problem seating the bead
and fyi, 225 on a 8.5 is actually 'proper' fitment. within the manufacturers reccomended range, and it won't really look stretched at all.

Width and offset no problem.
Hope you have a base model with the 4-lug wheels?
Bolt pattern is 4 x 114.3mm or 4 x 4.5"...

^ great offset. it'll fit fine. you'll be able to run 235/40 and 255/40 without rolling.

yah its about perfect with stock fenders. if you want them to stick out more, theres always the spacers. but they wont be sunk in or anything.

I got a free set of OEM take offs I am trying to set up cheap on my Fc. The offset is high which I know is going to be a problem. Size is 17x8 with a 45 offset. I want to run them on a s5 with some aftermarket springs I cant identifiy,(light blue in color, just a bit darker than cusco blue) and furture tokinco blues. What is everyones recomendation on spacers (size and brand maybe) and max tire widths I can go with. Thanks in advance for any help. If nothing else I will try to sell them. (05 acura TL wheels)

You need at least a 10mm spacer, but I would recommend something more like 1/2", for up front.
You can runs wheels like that in the rears with no spacers.

Running spacers that wide will require longer studs, since the stock studs are not safe anything over a 1/4" spacer.

Thanks alot for the info, I hope to run 225/40's in the front and 245/40's in the rear. Is it save to run a spacer that is so big? I understand I will need longer studs, but 1/2 inch spacer seems scary. Is a bolt on spacer the safest one to use? Any recomendations on where to find the spacers? Thanks again bro!

Fronts will clear the insides no problem, but be prepared to roll those front fenders a LOT.
Overfenders probably an easier way to get them covered?
I'd estimate you need to pull those front fenders like 1/2" outward.

The rears are going to be too tight on the inside with that wide of a tire.
If you drop down to a 245 or a 255 tire, it will be tight but it should clear the insides.

Why would you want to go wider than 275's in the back?
You making like 500 hp?

With the 8.0" up front and that offset, you can step up to a 235 or 245 wide no problem.

Talking 18" wheels fitment fc gxl

Well here is what I found if it can help someone.

I purchased mags as follows

18 X 8 at 38 offset

with a 3mm spacer front so 35 offset (18 x 8.5 DOES NOT FIT UNDER WHEEL WELL ON STOCK SUSPENSION AT 35 OFFSET)

With these mags the largest tire that fits UNDER WHEEL WELL is a P225/40R18 in the front and a 235 with a 18 x 8 will be on top of wheel well or flush meaning you Will hit the inside fender on heavy compression.

18 X 9 at 35 offset

The rear at 35 offset I fit a 255/35R18. This is pretty tight on fender side. You MAY be able to fit a 265/35R18 inside of the wheel well at 38 offset with stock suspension(have not tested this).

And there is my two cents.
