Thank you for the input, fwiw, the fronts are already rolled about as much as can be done. I could still pull them of course, and it would seem to me that about 2- 2.5 degrees of negative camber would be the best for front grip on the more agressive street tires as it is for most macpherson strut cars. Unless of course there is something peculiar to the chassis.... I don't know as this is my first FC and I have not been able to do much research at this point, but I defer to those with more experience. Which of course leads me here and for starters at least, to this post.
I have searched on this specific fitment and those close to it btw. But this is a multi part question and it was made with a few specific golas in mind and with a willingness to make things work to some extent.

Again need spacers for sure I think ...but how much would it be safe, since atm cannot find spacers with builtin struds so I would rely only on the stock struds and mounting the wheels on the remaining lenght of them...
And besides that, what would be the best tire size to mount ?? I was thinking of 225/40.... your suggestions?

Thus, you need at least a 20mm or close to 1" spacer to fit up front.
You cannot run a spacer this big on the stock wheel studs - front or back.

hey guys, need an answer. will 235/40/17 fit with 30-32 offset in the front with stock suspension and fenders? what about 225/45/17? are the ratio correct becasue i think im too tall. im already stuck with 245/45/17 for the rears. i know they are about an inch or two too tall but they do fit, i think... thanks

17x8 minimum +25 w/ a max of +35 with a 225 wide tire.
17x9 minimum of +20 w/ a max of +40 w/ a 255 wide tire.
I'll be running 17x9 fronts w/ a +22 offset and a 245 wide tire and in the rear I'm running a set of 17x10s +45 w/ spacer and 255s now but will switch to 315s when they wear out.

custom wheels
Hey, everyone - need some help. I have a 1986 base with the phone dial wheels. I just installed tokico adjustables and RB springs. I love the suspension set up, but am shredding the 14" rain tires currently on it. Time for some wheels/tires. Looks like the set up listed below is the way to go.
17" x 8" +27mm offset (+30 to +25 should work) with 225/45/17 up front
17" x 9" +20mm offset (+15 to +30 will work) with 255/40/17 in back
Assuming i want to keep my 4 lug set up, can someone list for me manufacturers i could go to for this set up? so far the only one i can find with this level of customization is 5Zigen....
ultimately i would like to find some mesh type wheels, but what is most important to me is fit, performance, and price.

will 245/40/17 fit the stock front with a 30 offet? wheels are 17x8 30 offset. also does anyone have a chart of the correct diameter tires size for 17x8 inch wheels? thanks

I doubt a 245/40/17 will fit in the front fenders with 17x8's and a 30mm offset. Maybe if you have coilovers that add clearance and your willing to roll your fenders, then you might be able to get them to fit. I've got 17x8's with a 30mm offset and I run 225/45/17's currently and they fit fine, there's even a small amount of room to spare, so I'll try some 235/40/17's next (in a year or so) and see how it is, but I don't think there's enough room to fit anything larger without mods. Some 245's might work if they're particularly narrow (tires vary in size a fair bit).
Although, looking at tire specs, the section width increase from a 235/40 to a 245/40 is smaller than from a 225/45 to a 235/40. The 225's seem to have a section width of about 8.9" on average, the 235 is 9.5" on average and the 245 is 2.8" on average (from what I've seen).
I'd say you'd be better off to play it safe for now and get a really sticky 235 and then see if you think there's room after that.
Correct tire sizes would be 205/50, 215/45, 225/45, 235/40, 245/40, and you can probably squeeze a 255/40 on there.

Since stock is 16", the +1 is the equivalent size but in 17" wheel diameter.
+2 = 18"
+3 = 19"
The "wide" means the rolling circumference is close to stock, but the width is significantly wider than stock.
Try and stick with the tire sizes that are marked +1, +2, and +3.

daym i just got a set of tires for the fronts 245/40 and i already had 245/45 for my 17x8 gt wheels. i was about to put them on, until my friend told me i can have his cobra wheels. 18x9 26-24 offset all the way around. they are the 2000 y2k cobras but i dont know if they are real ones or if they are replicas. the real ones are 24 offset and i think the fakes are the same, if not they should be 26. do you think it will fit? im planning on putting the tires i just bought on them. stock everything. thanks

Got the Enkei RPF1's at my local ETD today.
17*8 front, 35 offset with 225/45-17, 17*9 & 35 rear with 255/40-17.
Tires are BFGoodrich KDW's.
No clearance problems of any kind that I have seen, can't give an honest report on the handling as the tires are so new. If my initial observations are anything close, it doesn't push like a pig though ;-)

i have a stock fc, wheels are 18x9 24 offset. on the chart it looks like i the smallest i should run 235/40. will that clear? can i run 225/45 or 40 stretched on the front? what about 245/40 in the rears? thanks.
