Need help picking coilovers for street/track

I need to put suspension on the beast. I am going to be doing road course solo or tracking events. The car will still be street driven some on chicago roads. I don't mind if they are somewhat stiff but my girl might...

So, the question is what is the best suspension for my needs for under 1300.

Thanks and I did search but didn't come up with my info.

^^ exactly...

Furthermore, what makes you think you need coilovers just to run on the track? IMO, people asking what coilovers to get don't typically NEED coilovers....because they don't know enough about suspensions to do their own choosing.

Don't take the above as ripping on you, just trying to save you some $$$ and off-track incidents.

Yes. The stock setup of this car is far more than 99% of the owners can handle anyway, that's why my only suspension mod to date is Eibach springs.

My suggestion is start doing some autocross and track events on the stock setup. Once you get some seat time, start upgrading slowly. you'll be a better driver, and have more money in your pocket

Sorry guys, it has been awhile since I have posted on this site and forgot that I had to prove myself before asking a question.

So to answer everyone’s question (because this appears to be the only way to get MY questions answered) I have done quite a few road events and solo(hated solo). My reasoning for new suspension isn't necessarily due to the fact that I am so fast that I need new shocks but more for the fact that mine are completely warn and I am putting a LS1 in the car along with new bushings. I just figured this would be a good time to do suspension since I am doing all this other work.

Please also note that I have been on this forum longer than anyone that posted. I just have been out of the Rx7 scene for awhile and am looking for some suggestions.

Thanks for your help on picking my suspension.

I'm thinking about going with the Buddy Club D1's. Cheap, decent spring rates, monotube.

...you can probably get them cheaper (~$900) from somewhere else though.

I agree with 7racer i have them on my FD with the hard springs. I was planing on getting some track time this last summer with them but my engine decided other wise. So i have no experince with them on a road course. But defintily worth researching more about.

Wicked:

They are very expensive, but the Zeal B6s ride very well given their spring rates. They have very well chosen damping curves and incredible build quality. In addition to all that, they can be fully serviced here and Auto Rnd is an Endless/Zeal master distributor (very RX-7 friendly!).

If those are out of your budget, you should really look at the Tein Flex. It is a well-built coilover with good spring rates. Teins are also serviceable in the US.

Serviceability in the US is a HUGE point to me and something most shoppers overlook....

I can't even find much on any Zeal coilovers on AutoR&D's site, much less B6's specifically or one for RX7's.

Hi there guys,

Ya the B series of coils has been discon'd and replaced by their X series of coils. THe function Xs would be it's replacement. They've done away with the chromoly plating and have gone to cadmium/teflon coatings.

While the Function Xs remained 6 way adjustable the Function X is now 30 way adjustable.

Like the guys mentioned above, US servicability or at least warranty replacement is a huge MUST. Most overlook it and will regret it later.

The problem is within your 1300 budget you won't get Zeals. I think you can get them closer to $2000.00 or so shipped on Xs. I am just guessing, pm me and i can work it out. Benefits of Zeals is that they can be internally serviced and valved here.

I'd say within your $1300 budget the coilover mentioned above, Buddy Club D1, and its counterpart STANCE ST suspension would be your best bets. They both have the same spring rates, are monotube, and allow for spring preload and ride height to be adjusted separately.

The Tein Flex will have lower spring rates I believe, and is a twin tube damper. It has has the dual perch function and is servicable or replacable.

I'm running a promotion on the Stance Coilovers right now. They just released onto the market and i'm getting mine later this week. I am looking for a handful of testimonies from people in different areas with different driving needs. If you're interested these will be well under your budget and you can run 12kg/10kg setup, i'll change the rates out for you. They come standard with 12k/12k. 1 Year warranty and I have a great relationship with the importer too boot.

Email me: sales@autornd.com

Here's a link to our website and some coilovers we offer: There's a lot more we just haven't gotten everything up.

General Suspension:

Coilovers:

Take a gander. Some I'll recommend and others I won't. Your club prices will be lower than our web prices.

Thanks, Rishie
