I actually do believe the MX is a pretty decent tire, and I am surprised that your experience was that bad.

Costco member?
I was pricing out a set of T1S locally from the local tire shop that supposedly has a "sale".
Boy, I almost fell on the floor when he told me $830.xx for a set of four 225/50/16 with full service!
I told him to stick it up his...
Just for kicks, I checked the Costco website http://www.costco.com/
They have S03's (Z-rated, non-PP's?) with a $100 rebate if you buy a set of four.
$189 for 225/50/16 for FULL SERVICE, with no bullshit shipping fees.
That makes it about $700 for a set of S03's full service from your local Costco dealer after the rebate.
Tire Rack has them listed at $173 (W rated, PP) currently, but you still need to pay for shipping and then mounting and balancing.
The Costco deal it starting to sound pretty damn good right now...

Try some online shops, too:
http://tirerack.com (<-- has Kumho)
http://www.vulcantire.com (<-- I ordered my Azenis tires from here, also has Kumho)
http://onlinetires.com (<-- has Kumho, Toyo)
