Angry Great!

I finally get a set of real racing wheels with the 6-spoke SSR Competitions, and now the TE37 6-spoke style is the most played out? Dammit!

I think the RH C5 are the most played out. They were a huge hit out here for the longest time and if I see them on a car now they make me sick.

CHROME PLAYED OUT?????

Who ever thinks chrome is played out is crazy. Chrome is definately classy! Why do you see all the more expensive cars (especially luxury) with chrome? Silver is played out if any color is. You buy chrome if you love your car enough to take care of it and have it look like a million bucks. I know that with chrome I will have to wash the car and clean them every day but who wouldn't???

chrome does not belong on a sports car, IMO. its nice to see a Benz or Lexus GS rollin on 20+ inch chrome wheels, but it brings a tear to my eye when i see big, heavy, chrome rims on an RX-7.

just my .02

Why did Mazda have chrome for it's 3rd gen? Toyota for its Supra? Mitsubishi for it's 3000gt? And why is it that you think CHROME is Soooooo heavy? Look at these numbers right off the Enkei web site for the Aegis rim :

Chrome 18 x 8.5 23.3 lbs
Silver 18 x 8.5 23.3 lbs

Chrome 18 x 9.5 23.65 lbs
Silver 18 x 9.5 23.65 lbs

see even discount tire knew that
Chrome is out (to you) because you see all the high school kids out there with their Hondas and they can't afford the more expensive Chrome, that's why it doesn't sell! By the way, think of the name "Discount Tire". Don't think I hate everything except for Chrome because I love White rims. Thinking of powder coating my stock rims white!

As for the most played out rims. I agree with the person that said Konig Monsoons but since it's not on the list I'd have to say the TE-37's. I'm no too fond of the design but it is obviously a great rim that too many have. The C5 would be next on my list after that.

Chrome = Yuck! Maybe on a 4,000 lb 3000 GT (GTO) its ok, but not on a 7. I wonder why they don't offer the Chrome on the Z06 package? Bling, Bling.

TE-37's are so played out that this is what they're doing to make it different.

My '93 R1 came stock with chrome wheels. The car looked great, but the Indiana salt did a number on the chrome plating during the Indiana winters. If I lived in a warm climate, I probably would have kept the chromed stockers

...i just bought konig rated-R's and Yokohama 215/45/17's A520's for 1,140 bux w/ wheel locks sent to my door... I know..they're the cheapo copy of the volks..I looked around for rims. Such as the D-Power ts-06, and the tenzo r passion 5's.
When i photoshopped them onto my car, too much detail was WAY too attractive, drawing attention to the wheels instead of the car..so i bought the rated-r's before i found out they were volks design...does this count me out..?

ahh..well..i like them w/ silver finish...+ the tires arent bad too

Cool

I dont know what you guys are talking about.. te37 are classic. I dont think they can ever be played out like c5 and i bet over half of the guys with te37 has the copy not the real volk.. you can get the copy for like 1000 for 18s

I don't think the Enkei's we can buy go through the same quality control as on the mclarens.

Tri-spoke wheel covers are played out. They never looked good, unless they were Super Advan's on an AE-86. The TE-37's are good wheels, but VERY common.

I voted for the TE-37's as the most played out wheels. Then I ordered a Set of them in 18x8.5 and 18x9.5. They still look great no matter how long they have been around.

I like my wheels best mostly because of the only other 2 or 3 people in the states that have them, one is Rod Millen. If I had to get a played out wheel it would for sure be the Volk's... They're sick.
