Any 5-spoke wheel has been pretty much played out! 6-spokes are on their way out. 7-spokes are looking fresh, while 20-spoke, racing mesh wheels will remain a timeless design. Mesh wheels are just a bitch to clean! Gawd, I pity those who have white wheels! Chrome has definitely been played out, as well as shiny polished wheels. I think the gunmetal silver or black looks tight these days, and I'm not just saying that because I happen to have SSR Comp (racing-only wheels), either

Hmmm chrome is out? Man all I see these days are naked aluminum grey finishes. I see very few cars with chrome rims except for the few old timers still running cragers. I went looking for a new set of rims on my 87 T2 and discount tire had like 30 aluminum grey wheels and like 2 chrome. I wanted chrome and I looked all over for a set I liked. Finally found some on tirerack.com, they came in the other day and look fantastic. ASA KA3 Chrome heres a pic from thier website of em...

maybe its just cause I am in a small town but nobody has C-5 or TE-37's. the most played out set of wheels here would hve to be the konig monsoons. It seems every other inport guy has got a set and one or two of the camaro guys also have a set!

I say the most payed out wheel will have to be the RacingHart C-5 wheels but still a classic 5 spokes design. Next would be the C-2 wheels but due to the mesh style that wheels will never get out dated. Then last would be the white Volk white TE-37 relatively in most of people's budget and it is one of the lightest wheels you can buy for your money.

I don't think that there is a lighter wheel unless it's under 15".

Rishie to the RESCUE!
PM Rishie for pricing on Volks The bronze finish is standard, so that will save you extra cost.

SSR Comps
I have a staggered set of SSR Comps in 8.5 x 17 (fr) and 9.5 x 17 (rr), 42 mm offsets (both sizes). Weighed by difference on a bathroom analog scale (with 120-lb female holding each wheel), the 8.5 x 17s were 15 lbs, the 9.5 x 17s were 16 lbs. The setup retails for $1596 plus shipping and sales tax from the Tire Rack. I was lucky to get mine for less from Dreamin, who originally got the SSR Comps from Rishie. My wheels were in new condition save for small rim lip scratch on one of the 8.5 x 17 wheels.
My wheels have 245/45-17 (fr) and 275/40-17 (rr) tire sizes mounted on their respective, 8.5 and 9.5-inch rim widths. The tires are Hoosier R3S03 racing tires. For now the SSR Comps/Hoosiers see only track duty. BTW the SSR Comps look GREAT on a red FD

I thought I'd just put this out there, but I can get anything that tirerack offers for less and resell it to you guys for less than they retail it for. This is 95% of the time. Hence why Dreamin and Manny both got good deals on the comps.
I did another set for Frank Tsai, don't know where he is though now. Haven't run into him on the forum in awhile.
See ya, Rishie
