Looking for tire reccomendation for 245/45/16

2 of my tires are about worn out and I want to get some 245/45/16s. Unfortunately, this is not a very common size. I was thinking of Nitto 555 or 555rs (ive heard great things about these) or maybe the Yoko EVS sport of Bridgestone S03s PPs. Pirelli does not make their P-zeros in 245/45/16s are far as I can tell.

What are the best summer tires for this size? thx

Yes, ive heard very good things about the S03s. thanks for your input

Ive been looking at the Nitto 555rs, and although they are only avail. in 245/50/16, I might try to go with them. However I prob. put 6-7000 miles on my FD per year, and Ive heard that the 555rs only last about 10,000 miles.

I keep reading on this forum that the KDWs are discontinued but I don't believe that they are. They are still on BFG's site and places like the tirerack still have them in stock and do not list them as a closeout tire.

I'd go with the KDWs or maybe Toyo.

I have Toyo T1-S in that size on my FC. Great tyres on the road.

Can get a little squirmy on the track once hot but still good under braking.

I've got the Yoko AVS Sports in that size and have about 3000 miles on them. They have great warm grip but take a bit in the winter to get sticky. I was able to get them greasy on the track after 3 hard laps, but they recovered well.

They're also very quiet at highway speed, and no hydroplaning problems cruising in a downpour at 75. I haven't tried them in the snow, but expect they'd be terrible like any other performance tire.

My statement still stands. Tirerack has that size and the BFG site still lists it. I have never heard of a tire being discontinued in a single size. Where did you get your info? Can you confirm it with a second source if some guy at one shop gave you this "fact?"

A-spec was not able to get that tyre through BFGoodrich nor through Tirerack, and that's what they were told and relayed to me. I was going to try the KDW's but had to get SO3's again.

The Toyo T1-S is an excellent summer tire that can be purchased for $118 each.

Thanks for everyones input.

$770 is more than I want to spend for 4 tires, so I dont think the S03s are worth it. The nittos seem to last maybe 10,000 miles at most, so it looks like I'll be going with either:

BFG Gforce KDW
Yoko EVS sport
Toyo T1-S

I use Bridgestone RE-750's and have been very happy with them. I've had them for almost a year now and they still show little wear. They're $127 a piece ($508 for 4) from Tirerack.com. If you don't want something that's going to be bald in 6 months ( Pole Position S03's) then these might be a good compramise. I've put about 9,000 miles on them, and still have tons of tread.

ES100 is also a low priced tire, not sure if they have 245 size but tirerack will tell u that. 750 is similar to ES100.

Key to tire life is tire rotation every 5-6k mi and proper air inflation checked every month.

A note on Nitto 555R's. You are aware these are drag radials correct? I got over 15K miles out of mine and the more they wear.... the stickier they get. Drop the tire pressure to 18-20lbs and do a healthy burnout at the track to get them sticky.

I did probably 40 passes at the drag strip and easily (20) 150+foot long burnouts on the street in addition to the 15K miles and they wore well. I wouldn't aggressively corner with this tire but for a dual purpose street/drag tire they work very well. I daily commuted on them to work for 300miles/wk for nearly a year on them rain/shine. Towards the end of their life I would only drive on them in the dry.

S03 is a great all around tire. A friend of mine had them on his Porsche C2 and we went to an AutoX day and he was doing very well on them. They wear well and have a great wet weather rating as well.

KD's are supposed to grip awesome.... So are Toyo RA1's..... Toyo T1S's are supposed to be very good as well and good price. I liked my RA1's a lot and at the track (road race) they work very very well.

You get what you pay for remember in most cases.

The 750 is far superior to the ES100. I bought the ES100's and sent them back because they didn't meet my requirements. I replaced them with the 750's, and there was a big difference. I paid $123 each for the 750's from the tire rack. If I had know about the T1-S for $118, I would have purchased them instead.

I would get the RIIs, they are for autocross more and less drag... less stiff sidewall is the only real difference
