looking for coilovers for 19"rims and 500hp

I'm at the point i need to get some coilovers asap, just finsihed the motor and single turbo, got the motor idling, puting in new front bushing, and RP launch kit, and figured i might as well get some new shocks or coilovers before i get a aligment. Looking to do mostly street driving at 18psi and with some track time with 30psi on a R85 single turbo with meth inj. I'm running 19" rims on the street not sure what i'm gonna do for drag, but need to buy some coilovers now. I'm confused on what coilovers would be good for this setup. Definately need to lower the car, and still have the HP rating with out rubbing, and handle track and street use. From searching thread i've found out 8K 6K spring rates are good for auto crossing, and max at 10k 8K per colemand. Then you see coilovers from rishie FS on website over at japan running alot higher spring rates than here in the US. 12K12K up to 18K. saying they are highly regarded for street and racing. That's a big jump from 8K6K spring rate. Most are even front and back? Looking for some feedback. Don't want the car frog hopping every gear down the track.

Questions:

1. What's your budget?
2. You mention going to the track, drag strip or road course?
3. If road course will you run r comps or street tires?

Don't get too caught up in the spring rate off the bat. A good coilover with a 12k spring rate may ride better then a cheap one with 8k etc... You can always swap them out later within a given range.

Budget $2000 or a bit more
Street driving and mostly drag racing, and may try a autocroos event, i been invited to do some autocrosiing with porsche series for fun, the coordinator is a friend. will turn down the boost for that.
Tires 19" for street , stock rims with r comps for drag, auto crossing will be with other set of rims when ready for that.

Any suggestions? Been looking at pettit trak pro.

Ohlins PCV all day every day, best coilover under $2500, I can get you a used set for around $1500.

Ohlins are some of the best street/track (road course) coilovers you can buy... OP for $1500, these may be your ticket.

Otherwise since you are into drag racing you could always give koni/ground control's a try. This way you could easily alter the spring rates and or shock valving. Some coilovers are not easily rebuilt or re valved so first check to see if this can be done in the US.

I've been looking at ohlins since this post, and now Thinking of getting the Ohlins DVF for $3000, sping rate 11k f and 11R. I agree with "Brekyself" about street/road course use, what do u think would happen with drag launches?

Typically you would want significantly lower spring rates for drag, the Hks drag coilovers spring rates are 6 or 7k. You can't have one coilovers that is the best at everything, with that being said I think the Ohlins are your best option. No need to pay the big msrp when you can get a gently used second hand set from us for cheaper.

Buying a new set of Ohlins Road and Track (DFV) would be overkill for a mostly street/drag car. Pure is right, there will be no coilover to do everything, street/drag/road course.

Picking up a used set will allow you to test them without taking the hit in depreciation.

Ok, So now i know i need softer spring rates on the back for drag racing, so what coilover is good for street and drag, not worried about autocrossing. I still like ohlins, but think i'll have a hard time hooking up on the launch..

Again i use Stance GR+ Pro and i have ZERO wheel hop when launching off redline on slicks. I'm cutting 1.47+ 60' times and it just hooks and goes. I just turn the setting down to the softest and i'm good to go. On the road i turn them up about 4 notches in the back and on a road course i turn them up to about 8 notches.

A new set of Stance will cost about the same as used Ohlins or another quality set from purerx7.

Ohlins > Stance any day of the week...

Ive rode in a Ohlins cars a lot and i drive my car every day. Theres really not a huge difference and with the same tires i run better times in my car than his... just saying. Maybe youre just biased.

.......or maybe you're just a better driver

A friend who owns a shop tells me a story of a set of Stance that were put on a shock dyno and all four corners were completely different. Doesn't mean they're all horrible, but not a story I wanted to hear if I had Stance.

I havent heard Zeal mentioned yet, they are fantastic for the street and road course, not so much drag racing of course.

Lol I've heard the same story from stance, but when i got mine used i had them pressure tested/dynoed whatever you wanna call it at a buddies fab shop. All four corners were within a small percentage of each other on the lowest and highest settings. i was happy with that so we didnt do every notch. I'm sure you'll find stance to meet your needs.
