Kuhmo ECSTA Supra's are crap?

Mine were sticky enough to take me 90mph thru freeway exchange ramps. They are not as sticky as ultra high performance rubber like Pzeros or S02/3s, but they are fine for fast street driving.
Check your alignment too, as that if you have too much positive camber it can feel like you are riding on tip toes around corners.
Does it feel like your front end is pushing? Maybe your rollbar settings are off if you have adjustables.

Mr. Seven:
Don't ask DamonB about his Kumho Ecsta Supra 712s
Well I guess if you're doing mostly interestate...but I wouldn't take the Kumhos out for a fun run down my favorite stretch of mountain road

glassman,
I got the same size, 255/40-17, in the AVS Intermediate, and they have exceeded my expectations in grip considering they were only $106 each, and only one dollar cheaper than the Kumho Ecsta Supra 712s (in the identical size) I'd say the AVS Intermediate is an even BIGGER bang for the buck, and I plan to autocross on those puppies

Funny you had asked. My friend had just bought a used FD CYM R1...it had new 712's....
I did the launch from a full stop, did the cornering test, off camber test, etc....
Results.
These tires are NOT Pirelli's or Bridgestones...thats for sure. But, for the price. They are WELL worth it. The performance is not bad when cold....they seem to like a rub in first. I believe compound used is mainly for street use. The tread pattern is a good design for the wet.....can't wait to try it on that!!!

For more grip but less rain capability, check out their new Max Performance dry tire. Not sure if TireRack is selling them yet or not. But they're a step above the 712's and then some. According to their motorsports director, they're as good as the street BFG G-Force T/A's.

I'm happy with them on my car, but I know they are suitable for track days or any real serious mountain driving, but still nice grip for the money and moderate abuse on mountain roads.
I had the old S0-2s on the stock rims 245/45, and its kind of hard to tell the difference on the street between the two since you have to have some ***** and road familiarity for you to really test the limits of the tires on the street...and have some runoff room too.
