Interest in iForged rims?
Just trying to gauge interest in iForged rims (www.iforged.com) They're made to order, 2 piece or 3 piece forged rims. Absolutely gorgeous if you ask me. One nice thing is that they can do custom offsets in 1 mm increments. Fikse will only let you adjust offsets in 12.5 mm increments.
The smallest rim they do is 18", no 17's ... so consider that.
Here are some pics to get you creaming. If I can get 10 people between here and rx8club.com, then I can do around $2000 for a set of the 2 piece rims ... around $2500 for a set of the 3 piece rims.

All the weights are on their site. They're light though, seem to be a touch lighter than Fikse's or Kinesis.
I like 17's too Manny, but I don't like having to use spacers to get my Fikse's to fit right, so I might buy some of these.

This company, or at least its website, always seems sort of shady... theres just not enough info. for instance:
Whats the difference betweeen the "Forged" and "Racing" series wheels? Are the racing not forged? There are no sizes listed for the racing series. when does the "Lightweight" series come out? Why do they not list weights for any of the 18" sizes? The deal does sound good, but for 2k, i'd like to have more info from the company

I have heard some things here and there about them.
I heard there were some problems w/ people not receiving product. But then again, I know people who are sponsored by the company. (Maybe there were some problems in the past?)
I really don't know what to believe. The company is in SoCal though.
They have some nice looking wheels. Lots of show cars w/ their product. (I have yet to see a race car w/ their product though).

Manny, they do offer 17" in the RS series ... which are forged by the way. All their rims are forged. I think I actually like the look of the RS series better.
How do they seem shady? There isn't enough info about the RS series listed on the site, true, but how about asking me instead of assuming the worst. And I don't know when the Lightweight series is coming out, I'll ask them and let you know.
Is this close enough to a race car?

I know that 996 Turbo has the rims on it. But I have yet to see the rims on a car of a professional race team or at least, an active racer who frequents the race tracks.
Another note, I just found out that I know someone who works there. Will have to give them a call...

Vince from iForged is watching this thread, he'll funnel info through me ... or maybe post on here. Here's a quote of what he just sent me:
If you want to arrange an RX7 tour down to our manufacturing facility we can show these guys what we do. We use the same material, and the same finisher as HRE, Kinesis. Difference between the FS series and RS seris is the FS is 3 piece, and the RS is 2 piece.

what's the advantage, if any of the brushed aluminum versus polished?
It would seem the polished would be easier to clean?? Does the brushed cost more do to the labor of the brushed look?

Yup,
I've heard of a lot of poor experiences with I Forged. In fact I made the offer years ago but Vince could never come thru. And then hearing about a lot of issues in the VW orgs with late products and some defects turned me off from them.
The majority of their wheels are quite heavy as well.

Thr shady comment came from the fact that they seemed to be in "business" quite a while before you could actually get any wheels, and i'd heard the same rumor about people not recieving shipments or with quality-control issues.
That doesn't mean they were true, just what i heard, and i tend to be cautious w/ 2k :-)
That said they look great. I might wanna wait to see the lightweight series, but as long as i'm going custom, i'd want:
18x10 +51 front,
18x10.5 +?? rear (what? 55?)
Prolly a mesh design... can they do any cool finishes? i don't dig blingy full-polished.

They can do any finish anybody else can. Ones listed on their price sheet are silver, black, and gunmetal ... painted or powdercoated. Brushed aluminum adds $50 per wheel, polished adds $25 per wheels, chrome centers adds $100 per wheel, clear coating centers and lips adds $40 per wheel, custom painted colors adds $35 per wheel, and polishing the inner barrel adds $35 per wheel.
