how wide 255/35/18 ?

How wide would that setup be... also, what is the conversion to figure this out. I thought it was divide the first number by 25.4 but i dont think that works out. Any help?

Yes, that will work, the first # is millimeters which is 10.04 inches. The "34" is the side wall height, 34 percent of 255, which is 86.7 mm or 3.413 inches.

the width of the tire also depends on the width of the rim it's mounted to. A 255 width tire will be wider (let me correct myself - have a larger contact patch) on a 9.5 inch rim than on an 8.5 inch rim, though I think both will fit.

go with a 9.5-inch wide x 18-inch diameter rim with 255/35-18 for the reason above...

well the reason i ask is because im going to buy a set of rims this weekend that are supposedly 18x8.5 mounted on 233/35-18 tires, does this sound like a decent setup? should i worry about the mix of tires to wheels?

You should really only run a 245/35 on the 18,8.5.

Don't factor tires into the equation. They have no value on used wheels. Just a perk. Tell us the wheels and the price. ?Condition and such. I tell you if good deal.
