Hey guys this question is probably a question for the manufactures or sales folks .
My question is this , I am doing alot of powder coating on rims , but from time to time I'm running into trouble . Usually I can just blast or -rough up- the outer finish to give the powder coat something to stick to ,I included a pic to help understand . but when I got this rim to this point , the powder would not adhere ,I tried to show the multiple layers of finish so I had to spend the time and expense of stripping the rim down to the bare metal . I guess my main question is are all of the newer rims powder coated or is ther esome other kind of finish that Im not familiar with . any help would be greatly appreciated .
Thanks in advance

When i have had a local company in my area powder coat parts (including wheels) for me he always had to acid dip or sand blast the wheel to completely remove the powder coating. Something about the powder coating when it is cured will not let another finish bond to it correctly.
Also, just to let you know all of the Mille Miglia wheels are powder coated and have a urethane clear coat to make the finish extremely dureable. More than likely most of your problems were coming from the clear coat. Once the urethane clear coat is cured you won't find anything that will adhere to it permanently.
BTW - That Mille Miglia Action looks great in black. I wish the powers that be would let us start carrying more wheels with a black finishs.
