Ground Control & helper spring
searched on helper spring, but not much info on it....
i heard about the helper springs being used to keep the coil spring in place when lifting the car up, but does the two have to be welded together? is there other ways to install the helper springs without having to buy one for each spring you own?

On an FC you only need them in the rear. The front springs are long enough to remain seated when you jack the front of the car up.
They sit on top of the springs with a small spacer. It really does not make them any harder to install.

The spacers are not that expensive. I think they are around $20.00 each.
I opted not to get them with the set that is on my current race car. Even though I jack the car up quite often it is not a big deal to re-seat the rear springs as I lower the car.

On an FD, they would only come into play when all four wheels in the air... if you just lift either one wheel, or on side of the car, the sway bars keep them in place. IMHO, not necessary at all as long as you remember to set them in place after you've had the car on a lif or jack stands... and even the i'm not sure you'd need to bother.
