Fikse Wheel Problems

Hey guys,

I just got my wheel back because I thought I had a problem with my tire.

You see everytime I would inflate it with 4 days it would return to 5 psi.

So I brought it to my tire store and they checked it out and said that the problem was with my wheel. I was thinking to myself " yeah right, these are Fikse's".

So the guy says that between the outer rim and the face piece there is a rubber or plastic o-ring that seals the mag. He recommends ordering the piece (with Fikse I can just imagine the cost).

However, I get home take out my 11mm wrench and start trying to tighten the screws on the inside of the wheel. To my surprise one I could turn almost a 1/2 turn!! and some just a little while others where rock solid.

So anyone out there was my problem that my wheels needed tightening or do I gotta spend big bucks?

Thanks in advance for the help,

Alex

(They are Fikse FM-10's)

Um yeah, I don't know fikse's by # but I have been running their DP wheel in grand-am for a few years and I would re-torque them every weekend..for the street I would recommend disasembling them and installing a new sealing ring, use blue locktight and torque to 180 inch pounds (don't over tighten!!) and then run a large bead of silicone all the way around the seem and smooth it with your finger.......or you can simply leave the wheel together and add the silicone and then hope it doesn't leek....check the torque often

Big thanks

I am a serious noob to these expensive wheels.

If you care to send any pics of the process my way I would be more than greatfull.

I guess I am gonna go get a torque wrench with a 10mm socket first thing.

Also specific names of products used and where I can buy the new ring would be amazing!!!!

as far as the sealing ring goes, you will have to call fiske the number is on the web just search it. I can't remember the exact sealant # off the top of my head but it's the Dow Corning grey silicone you can get it through mcmaster-carr. depending on how beat up the old sealing ring is you could probably get away with cleanning it really good and reusing it..sorry no pics just put a light coating(i mean light) of silicone on both sides of the ring assemble wheel and torque...then fill the void where the inner and outer halfes join and smooth it out with your finger

good luck
