Fc front brake M-springs

hey all.

many years ago i took the brake pads off the FC and recently went to mazdatrix to buy brake pads and brake hardware. apparently you cannot get the stock M springs unless you buy the stock oem brake pads. I was told by someone heading mazdatrix that i didnt need to run the M springs and that their track cars didnt. this will be my first attempt at a solo brake job, and am a little weary about taking someones advice about not putting clips back in that may retain the brake pad or keep it from grinding on the rotor/making noise. also, i could only find two M clips after many years and am unsure if i am missing 2 more (i found a third mystery mini m clip that looks too tiny for the front). the FSM shows 4 M clips, and a overhaul manual only shows one on the bottom. thanks for helping me clear up how many m clips/their purpose, i am super sketched about my brake job until this is answered!

if its like the fd front - there are two m springs (one large and one small) on each side that keep the pads back and another single flat clip that holds the pins in. Back there is only a single v shaped spring to hold the pads back.

check online for raybestos or bendix for hardware kits.

for the fd with the 4 piston caliper its like this:

M
w

the pads should have holes in the backing plate that the clips mount into.
