Falken Ziex ZE-512? Good tire?

I'm looking at Falken Ziex ZE-512s, Anyone around here use them before? Looks like a decent all traction, with decent summer grip. Anyone have recommendations for all around decent tire? 195/60/R14.

Great for a sporty car, but don't expect to pull high g's. Excellent wet traction, but the tall tread (with many channels) make it somewhat squirmy in 7/10ths+ driving. It wears rather quickly too (given its rating), though I'd rather give up wear rate for prolonged traction any day. I have had them on the daily Civic and sister's Accord. They are being replaced by the Ze 912.

I wouldn't put it on a FD, though it would probably match well with a stock FB.

Cool Thanks! I have a lightly modded FC N/A, another mod and I'll have more or less about 180 hp (Crank). I imagine throwing on a few extra PSI would stiffen up the tire a little, from what I've seen with other tires.

Do you have any recommendations on other decent tires?

for light spirited driving on a mostly stock car its fine.

but the sidewall is too soft. my friend has the successor 912's on his s14. it has stance coilovers and substantial suspension work. during hard cornering he can feel the rear sidewall deform, making corner exit pretty wobbly. he bumped up the air pressure to 40psi, which is kind of high for street. not much better.

if you drive hard, i'd suggest something else. maybe the toyo t1r

I do drive "spiritedly" Thanks for the info guys (I auto X every now and then), and I'll be buying the racing beat package soon. If anyone has any other recommendations, they'll be be greatly appreciated.

The last two may not be too great in the wet (or snow) but are probably more fun to drive on. Doesn't cost much more, either.

I agree. I'm pretty happy with my Hankook RS-2s.

I wouldn't really even consider buying a lesser tire really. Even if it was substantially cheaper.

Not as much traction as the 512. I've had these on the daily Civic. I could get the tires to chirp from a dead stop, simply by stepping on the gas (107hp IIRC, slush box). Otherwise, it does wear well.

I have a set of ZE512's that i use for auto-x. They are 225/50R15, and i have them on the stock FC rim. I like em, they're a huge improvement over what i used to have (P.O.S. General Exclaim, but they last forever).

I would suggest the Falken azenis rt-615 decently priced for the performance you get. If you auto x and drive hard every now and then. The first few hundred miles might be rough and loud but then it gets better. Due to the stiff sides walls it may be pefect if you like to curve thru corners.

I have used 2 sets on my daily drivers. They are relatively loud. Good street traction in dry and rain, not bad in light snow. The wear rate isn't great - maybe 25k. Overall it's a decent tire for $100/corner.
