F18x8 offset 35 & R18x9 offset 38 work?

I am wondering will the above size work on my FD, I have stock R1 suspension and H&R springs. I'm done some serach in the forum, people usually running 40+ offset for that kind of size... Just wondering if it will work or not. If so, what size of the tires should I run?

Thanks

No. There will be more rubbing going on than in a massage parlor.

They should work fine if you choose the right tire for the front.

I had 17x8x32 F and 17x9x38 rear with 245/40 or 225/45 Fronts and 255/40 rears and they were ok.

Compare overall tire/wheel sizing to what I gave you here and you'll be ok, unless you take pleasure in cranking the steeering wheel full lock and drive up steep entrances.

so what should be the proper offset for this size?? 40 or 45?? I guess 225/40/18 front and 255/35/18 Rear should be fine for these rim, right?

promax: Check out this thread - https://www.rx7club.com/suspension-wheels-tires-brakes-20/fawked-up-my-fender-337757/

"David Kim" was running 18x8 wheels up front, +40 offset w/ 235/40-18 and Bilstein HDs and H&R springs and pulled his front fender out. The difference between 225/40-18 and 235/40-18 is only ~0.3", however, the wheels you're considering have an even lower offset of +35. No offense to "Rx7@Rocketship.com", and granted, every car is different, but IMO, it's too close to call. I'd err on the side of caution and look for wheels with a higher offset.

With what suspension setup?

I'll focus on the front setup as this seems to be the most critical.

225/45 with Racing beat springs and R1 shocks
245/40 with 600lb coilovers and Koni

Both with a 17"x8"x32mm SSR Integral.

Simply to add to my post above...

an 8 inch rim with a 32mm offset is no worse than a 9 inch rim with a 44 or 45mm offset, and many are using that fitment with no issues.

To emphasize the situation further, an 8 inch rim with a 32mm offset still has the wheel edge favorably sitting further inwards by more than a quarter inch when compared to a 10 inch wheel with 50mm, another relatively trouble free well known fitment. Granted, at this point there is always a way of catching a lip if someone really intended it.

im running 18x8.5 fronts, with 18x9.5 rears(both 35mm offset) with racing beat springs, and tokico illumna shocks. I only experience minor rubbing while turning sharp and going up inclines(like pulling into a steep driveway. tires are 235-40 18, and 275-35-18

I'm curious about this set-up, do you have any pictures?
