Early critique for the Zeal B6's with the Hard Spring Rates (11/10)
Simply Wow!!!!!
Dana from AutoRnD was kind enough to give me a ride in his FD to help me decide which of the B6's I wanted - the Street (9/8 spring rate) or the Track (11/10). His FD was equipped with the Track spring rate and I was simply amazed how streetable it was. The shock settings were set at "1" all around (obviously the softest setting) but even with spring rates 3 time stiffer than my stock R1 setup, the ride was incredibly smooth - I hate to say this but I felt like I was in a family sedan. We went over railroad tracks, potholes, on-ramps and the car was unflappable; considerably less jarring than my R1.
IMHO - the shock valving on the hard/track is very do-able for a daily driver.
I ended up choosing the softer "street" spring rates simply because I need more "time" reacting when I'm tracking my car however when my skills catch up to my ambitions - the street Zeals are a mere spring swap away to the track Zeals.
Dana - thanks for the joy ride. I'm still in awe how compliant the setup is. Your FD is CHERRY.
Rishie - thanks for setting this up. And I want everyone to know that he was willing to have them installed the very same day! Unfortunately, someone took the wheel locks out of my car............................................... .Bishes..............
Daniel
P.S. Pics of my coilovers soon...

I don't have the Zeals, but i can chip in for the spring rates. I'm running D2's with 11/9 and it feels perfectly fine on the street. Slightly bouncy to some people, but i like being able to 'feel' the road through the car. It's not bad at all and doesn't bother me a bit. It IS stiffer, but never jars or slams me like other cars have. I do track the car occasionally, otherwise i might have gone with the 9/7 combo. As it is, i believe that 10/8 would be my "perfect" spring setup for street/track duty...but it's not worth the trouble for me to try and change. When i first put them on a was a little apprehensive, but having ridden on them I'm very content with the way it is now...and it's also a daily driver! (My only car, actually...besides my wifes Xterra.)

tein flex's for the fd are 10/8. my brother has them on his car and it really doesnt even seem like its enough. we live in ohio, by all the amish, with all the shitty bumpy roads around, hell, my roads called Rocky Ridge Road, and it doesnt seem to hard for it at all. i got zeal v6's for my fc thanks to rishie at autornd. the v6's are basically the same thing as the b6's except since the front suspension of an fc is a strut type, an inverted monotube designed coilover is used to get the most perfomance. now, im only 15 to tell you the truth, and the coilovers definantly cost a pretty penny out of my own pocket, but honestly, im glad i spent that extra $800 more on the zeals than the tein flex's i had originally planned on getting. the spring rates of only 6/5 i believe for an fc didnt really impress me either. my street rated zeals have 8/6 which im sure will be perfect for me. flex's are really just basic coilovers. nothing else to it.
fd tein flex's
fc zeal v6's
awesome quality stuff
basically the same as an fd's rear, use it as an example
i would recomend everyone to jump on the deals rishie is offering and always does offer. he is an awesome person to work with.

I think the key distinguishing factor here isn't comparing spring rates as much as it is in comparing dampers, valving, and quality of materials. I've run same spring rates neck to neck with all the popular brands and they all yielded different ride and handling traits.
Also keep in mind that the FD being double wishbone will ride much better than the FC due to its machperson nature. The FC while running lower spring rates than the FD will ride harsher.

The Zeals Svelte7 has retail for $2200.00 a set. The new version of these coilovers are called the Function Xs. They are now Black/Teflon coated. They have done away with the blingtastic chromoly. Why? Umms, I think cause the black went better with their new yellow X coils. For a limited time we were able to get their even higher quality X coils on the B6's. The Coils Dan received is a Function Xs with a B6 "skin".
So Svelte is running Enkei RPF1 17x8.5 all around with 255/40/17. Prob about 35-37 lb setup.
Dana on the other hand is running 18x9 and 10 235/40 and 245/40 AME Circlar R that are about 42-45lb/corner setup.
We've run these coilovers in a variety of wheel and tire combinations with relative results. The Zeals have always been at the head of the pack in terms of ride quality and smoothness.
